Hi All, hope someone can help....
I have a Compaq Presario 2500 series laptop running Windows XP.
I bought it 2nd hand a few years ago and from the start it never held a charge for long - that didn't bother me as I used it in one place at home and could charge it up when the battery went low. I have now got wireless broadband so it is slightly annoying that all of a sudden the battery won't charge at all - when I look at the battery icon it says
'0% (charging)' but never changes from 0% no matter how long it is plugged in. The pc won't power up unless the power lead is plugged in.
Is this as simple as a dead battery? Or is there something else, some secret settings I can check, that may give me some extra info?
Thanks guys.....

2nd hand a few years ago exactly how old is the laptop.
I would say that the battery is almost certainly worn out.
Use google "presario 2500 battery" as your search or ebay has some sellers offering this battery.
For the brave you could disassemble your battery and replace the individual cells but this is not a job for a novice nor would i recommend unless carried out by a specialist.0 -
Thinking about it, I bet it is now 5 years old....is that about the maximum you can expect from a laptop battery?0

Just about 100% sure its the battery 5 years is more than the norm.
The only way to tell is to obtain a replacement.0 -
You can get a battery on ebay. should be cheap enough0
