Also interested. Wondering whether to finish next spring or summer with a possible further reduction to 3 days a week before then.SouthCoastBoy said:Congratulations to all on making the move to retirement. I would be interested in any post retirement updates, i.e. is it what you anticipated, more or less expensive than expected etc.1 -
The person involved has voluntarily given then 2 years notice, hence the question as to my slight feeling of guilt

I understand. I just mean that the fact that they have mentioned it feels like they are pressuring you.cloud_dog said:The person involved has voluntarily given then 2 years notice, hence the question as to my slight feeling of guilt

I know what you mean, I need to let managers know I won’t be extending my contract for a further year next Spring. I’m conflicted about what to give as a reason.cloud_dog said:Earlier in this thread I outlined our plans for stopping towards the end of this year, and my (possibly 'f*** you' feelings at present) thought that with about 20 days leave outstanding I'll hand my notice in (30 days notice) and be gone within a matter of days (if that). But, I had a regular catch up with my line manager today and they indicated that one of our other key people had given the business 2 years notice of retiring. So now I am sat feeling a bit 'bad' / guilty, and feeling that I should probably shine the light on my plans.
I'll deal with it after my holiday. Something to look forward to :-|

Congratulations on your retirement. I have 13 months to go - August 2025 when I'll be 58. That has been my goal for the past ten years.2
