I have been retired now for 10 years & the only time I have been bored was waiting to be discharged from hospital from a hip replacement. I'm more likely to say it can't be that time already.

My partner’s buy to let completed today, so he’s paid as much as he can into his pension to offset a good chunk of the capital gains tax.
I think he really wants to get himself in a position to reduce his days soon.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pension, Debt Free Wanabee, and Over 50 Money Saving boards. Just found this thread and really enjoyed reading it so far. Three and a half more years until our planned retirement date (I'll be 60 and my partner 58) though I must admit thinking about it occupies more of my time than it probably should. I'm forever tweaking my spreadsheet and obsessing with saving money, so imagine I may struggle with the transition to decumulation.
I work for a large organisation and need only provide 1 month's notice. Although I have a good relationship with my bosses and would like to provide them with as much notice as possible to facilitate a handover, I also think doing so may not be in my own best interest as there are occasional 'restructuring events' and a conveniently timed redundancy would be most delightful!
Looking forward to reading folks' ongoing journeys into and through retirement!3 -
Hello, how are you all?
My handovers have finally been agreed and I’ve now started the process, I’m so pleased as over the last couple of weeks it felt like things in work had stalled.
I have also been deleting old files, leaving Teams groups and continued to decline or delete irrelevant meetings from my diary.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pension, Debt Free Wanabee, and Over 50 Money Saving boards. Hi @Smudgeismydog all going well here. Still not missing work and keeping busy. I’ve noticed I am finding it easier to relax, no longer feeling that I should be doing something more productive, if that makes sense. I’m also managing to sleep later. This morning the alarm woke me whereas in the past I’d have been up at least an hour before the alarm.
I started a dancing class a few weeks ago (line dancing). I’ve always wanted to try it and so far, am really enjoying. Starting to fit in some garden work now with the temperature increasing a little. I’ve also started baking again on Fridays. Something I used to do every week until things with my mum became really difficult and time consuming. Continuing to brush up my French.
Have you started to think about what your retirement will look like?2 -

I work from home anyway. But if you have enough (pension etc) and had enough (stressed and fed up) I don’t see the point in not retiring to be honest.
Life has been a bit like this …
