@Ruby - what a shocker, and what a great neighbour! As you said, it could have all been much worse.Because of the storm I found water underneath the woodburner and then water dripping into the kitchen - neither places have leaked before so it's down to the age of this ancient stone cottage and the direction of the wind driving the rain in. Both have dried up now. I lit the woodburner so the granite hearth is now dry and I'm rather too hot.All veggies finished off today, I had a meat free lunch, and then I attacked the chocolates. I'm still going through a load of hankies and coughing a bit more than I'd like though I feel less ill. Alway a bonus.9

Hello all
Sorry to hear so many are still poorly. Ruby, what an awful thing to happen, thank goodness for your neighbour.
Terrible day here too. It hasn't got light and the trees in the grass verge opposite are waving madly. I wouldn't be surprised if they snapped off. The flats opposite me are mainly inhabited by elderly or disabled folk. Several have small dogs and they are usually enthusiastic walkers. Not today ,only seen one lady out. Her and her terrier were struggling along. I was relieved to see them go back inside.
Was going to sit on sofa and read today but decided to change sheets, put load in WM and tidy fridge/ freeze left overs first. Started to feel cold and a bit shaky (oh dear!) so decided to sit down with a cuppa. Then I realised my kindle was missing. Eventually realised I had tucked it up in the middle of the bed when I made not,as I feared , put into the washer.
From being too warm over last few days it feels quite chilly. Stay safe and warm everyone ,particularly the poorly ones .10 -
Late again for me. Cooked dinner for DM and DF and their friends, all enjoyable and the dishwasher is currently doing its thing!Awful weather even here in the Midlands where there wasn’t actually any weather warnings. Seem to have chipped a tooth and I’m trying to decide if it’ll wait until my check up in two weeks ……why do these things always happen at weekends/bank holidays!?
hope everyone is safe in the storms
