Last night the 'Cold Moon' was stunning, there was no need for a light on my 3a.m. excursion across the hall.Yesterday was quiet, I watched old films, drank lots of water and enjoyed some leftovers. Nothing too exciting. Still lots of coughing. Today we have Storm Gerrit driving across the county, I received a text alert from SSEN about possible power outages so checked head torches, put some fresh candles in jars and set the fire ready to light if needed. No going out today, I have everything I need, even hankies.@Coxy- what a real shame about COVID, probably because you're back to office working. I hope that you feel better soon. The 'curse' of winter celebrations. And get better soon too to all our poorlies.10

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Rain coming down like stair rods here. I was woken up at 4 am with what I thought was someone trying to break in! An investigation showed rain battering the side bay. Of course I couldn't get back to sleep again and eventually gave in and got up. The dw is now doing its thing, as well as a light load in the wm. I might give the vac a quick trundle round next before giving in to the heated throw watching tv. I have much to catch up on.
I had a lovely day at DDs yesterday, once again eating far too much and maybe overdid it on the vino too. We played silly games in the evening amidst much hilarity.
DD, DP and the girls are away in Leeds for a couple of days from today. The younger two are in Elf the Musical at the First Direct. Only minor parts but they have never performed in a big arena before so it will be an experience for them. Elder DGD is working early doors at Caffe Nero so she was (hopefully) catching the first train before meeting up with them later.
I want to ring my SIL in a bit to see how she is doing. I haven't seen her over Christmas as I knew she would be in good hands with her 2 DDs. and families.
Have a good day folks if you can. I hope all the poorlies on here are soon on the mend. Thoughts as always with the sad and lonely. It's not the best time to be alone. Take care all, keep safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -

On the twelfth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Twelve drummers drumming,
Eleven pipers piping,
Ten lords a-leaping,
Nine ladies dancing,
Eight maids a-milking,
Seven swans a-swimming,
Six geese a-laying,
Five gold rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree!

Morning all.
Weather's a bit miserable here and DH has just decided he doesn't want to drive down the M1 to a friend's lunchtime drinks party. He still feels a bit tired post Covid so wants to take it easy for a while. That suits me as there's plenty I can be getting on with in the house and we have lots in still to eat.
Had a great lunchtime out at the pub yesterday, playing for my main Morris side. DH stayed home. Caught up with people I only see this time of year and made arrangements to see others later. We had jacket potatoes and cold turkey/gammon/veggie wellington when I got home, as DSiL had given us a generous plateful to take home. Think the same could be repeated today!
Off to make plans now. Take care all.9 -
Morning all, yes wet here too, with the next storm predicted. Horrible weather.DS2 came with the DGC for their present opening yesterday. Unfortunately DS & DGS seem to react more and more to our big pooch these days, they were sneezing like mad, itchy eyes etc. DS hadn't really got over the C day sneezes so in the end they didn't stay for tea, but we had turkey sandwiches and DGD also had some roasties reheated in the air fryer with gravy on for lunch . Their presents went down well, the best moment was when DGS opened a football shirt signed by his hero . DS1 got his reaction on camera, he was speechless at first We had a quiet afternoon once they'd gone, apart from DB calling to pick up his car from C day. Watched football on tv, and had another turkey dinner, then I sliced the rest off and make lots of stock for soup. I'll have to cook the rest of the gammon today so may just have that with egg and chips tonight.I think we'll be moving the furniture back to it's usual place in a bit, and extra chairs put back in the loft.Sorry so many of you are still feeling poorly, or sad. Hugs to you all. Taff, it's over 3 weeks since I started with the lurgy, the 1st week I went through nearly 3 boxes of tissues!TA I'm sure your SIL will appreciate a call.Time for another cuppa I think, stay nice and warm & Gers hope your power doesn't go off x

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers xx Hope you're feeling better soon x
I got up at 5am due to my dry cough/wheezing. Just ridiculous. DH has gone to DS1s to help with a DIY task so I'm going to tidy the house, sort the fridge out and start a bag off for the charity shop. I will get out for a walk later too to clear my head - a bit damp here but no rain....yet.....
No point worrying about a diet at this time of year @IzzyBee - too much temptation. I'm sure things will settle once your routine kicks back in x
We still have at least half the turkey crown plus 1/3 of the large gammon joint so I see a pie in our future - probably tomorrow once we've exhausted the cold meat and pickles smorgasbord.
Get well soon @-taff x
Have a good day everyone,

Morning all, the weather here is frightful with high winds and battering rain and we're on a storm warning till tomorrow. I'm hoping it will calm down later as I have to put the bins out !
I hope everyone had as good a time as they could over xmas. We had a lovely wonderful day at DD's when SiL cooked a lovely lunch and then they were all coming here yesterday but SiL and DGD both had poorly tummies ( possibly from over eating as everyone else is ok) so only Dad, DD and DGS arrived but we had still a great time and much laughter was had over the xmas quizzes that Mr Fix It set !
We have a lot of food leftover today as we were only 5 people not 7 plus Jasper dog even though everyone took home a doggy bag, so it's operation fridge sort out today. Most of it will get vacuum packed and frozen if possible. I have some other stuff to tidy up and put away too but I will just potter about and things will eventually get done.
I hope all the poorly ones get well asap and I'm sorry if illness spoilt your xmas time. I hope the sad ones are coping and I shall send many hugs your way.
Take care all, stay safe and warm.

Good morning everyone. The calm before the expected storm here today. Popped out this morning really to give the car a run rather than because anything was needed. Had a mooch round but nothing purchased other than a few essentials.
Sorry that so many are still poorly, hope you all start to feel better soon.
May those feeling sad and lonely find some peace and solace.
Stay safe xx

Morning all
Just a quick one from me as we are just off out with the dogs, we had a lovely day for Christmas but mum couldn’t come as she had an upset tummy so it was just the five of us, it’s such a shame as she loves Christmas.
Last night OH and I put the log burner on and settled down to eat cheese and biscuits with a good port when there was a knock at the door, it was a neighbour telling us that there was sparks and flames coming out of the chimney 😳 I had to call the fire brigade out who arrived so quickly, they put it out for us and checked the whole house for hot spots I felt so guilty for calling them out over Christmas but one of them said it got him out of the washing up so he was happy, we are not to light it till the sweep has been, I do have it done each year but it’s due to be done now so I have emailed him this morning. It was all a big shock I’m going to take the neighbour round a bottle of wine as a thank you it could have been so much worse !
Hugs to those feeling poorly or missing a loved one xx
Have good days all and take care xx
