Frasers: charging more if you dont take out their credit

Hello - one of our kids wants a North Face jacket and found one on sale at the Frasers website.
However, to get the sale price, you must take out their Buy Now Pay Later BNPL product. This year many items in their winter sale have a similar requirement. If you want to pay cash you end up paying a lot more

Here is a screenshot showing how the coat is £56 more expensive if you dont take out the credit. That is going to tempt a lot of people to borrow (and get into trouble) when they were going to pay in cash0

Nothing illegal in it that I know of.
I believe you can also just pay off the balance and not have to wait to pay it over 3 months.
As you say though, not good to be encouraging people to be taking credit when they don't need to.2 -

People buy cars by taking finance to get a disxcount and then settling it quickly to avoid paying lots of interest. If you can do the same as is suggested then I don't see what the problem is.0

Buy a car, £25k cash.
Buy a car on finance, £25k with £3k finance incentive.
Anyway, that is a digression.
The OP may be interested to know that the same jacket seems to be £209 for cash on the House of Fraser website this evening (rather than Frasers website)1 -
