Just had a thought, I have £170k saved with Santander in a Joint account, but I also have £62,000 invested in a savings account (single) with Cahoot and I rhave ealised they are the same company, I realise the £170k is protected but is the £62,000 at risk with Cahoot?

yes if they're the same company.  You only have £85k protected in total so £170k in total with the joint account.  Alternatively the £62k is safe but not all the ££ in Santander.

if it's in a saving's account, it might be paying 5.12% - hardly abysmal!

It 'was' in their simple saver, not anymore, have moved to Metro...
  • I dont know what's going on with Cahoot. I had a 9month fixed rate bond which matured mid Jan. Its now 8th Feb and I have only just got  the money after requesting it on 22nd Jan. Firstly it shut me down when I tried to do it online, then I had to wait 3 weeks (and 3 phone calls) before I got new registration details. Then I phoned to close account. 3 days later still no money. I've just phoned again and after nearly an hour and a hundred (it seemed) questions to make sure I wasnt being scammed I finally have the money. On the plus side the people on the phone are lovely and really try to solve the problem. Have a look at reviews on Trustpilot. Says it all. I am not the only one with problems here.
