Good King Wenceslas looked out
On the feast of Stephen,
When the snow lay round about
Deep and crisp and even;
Brightly shone the moon that night
Though the frost was cruel,
When a poor man came in sight,
Gath'ring winter fuel.

Morning folks Happy Boxing Day one and all. It feels chillier here too but we do have sun forecast. I've almost forgotten what that is!
Yesterday started off a bit of an emotional one remembering happy times in Christmas's past but family visits and phone calls cheered me up. Youngest Sis il rang, then DS called with Molly dog for a bacon sandwich and coffee, before his kitchen duties started ready for his DP's family arriving for Xmas dinner. Then DD and the 3 girls came before DD started her shift at the hospice and dropping the girls off at their dads for the day. After lunch a phone chat with an old friend, then the day was my own to just get my feet up and make inroads into the goodies in the Italian hamper DS brought me! I swear I put half a stone on just eyeing up the contents!
Today I am at DD's with DS and his DP. Like last year it's to be an Italian Day and I must start on my contributions shortly. I seem to have found myself in a messing about mode since I got up.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad or missing a loved one. Take care one and all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -
Morning All
Thanks -taff.
Cold this morning with a frost, a very welcome change to the awful rain we've had over the last few weeks - yesterday was just as bad!
I enjoyed yesterday, pottered about in the morning getting things ready for today then went for my Christmas dinner at friends who live just across the road so didn't have far to go. Dinner was excellent as always, it's the only time I eat sprouts!
I was home for about 9 so pottered some more.
Lovely to see so many posting yesterday.
Hope everyone enjoyed/survived the big day, time to relax now if you can, it's the main event for us today and will be a very busy house.
Take care. XX9 -
A late post from me, I managed to sleep a bit longer, it as very welcome even if helped along by medication. Of course, there's always a price to pay for it on waking, a spell of wracking and blowing. My beef wellington was so delicious I was more pleased that I could taste it, and I had lots of veggies with it. There's more than enough left for today. I mostly snoozed and watched TV. You won't be surprised to learn that my highlight was Dr Who. 😂 Mind you, I pressed a wrong button on the TV remote so spent more than a few minutes thinking that the high winds had knocked out the Freesat connections on the dish. Eventually I realised what happened and saved the day, much like Dr Who. 😂😂😂
@ TA - I'm glad you had time with family and friends and then some peace.8 -
Thanks for the start taff
Yesterday I woke at silly o'clock and the reality that it was Christmas and I'd spend it alone hit me hard. Cried most of the day
Cold today but dry so I think I'll try and have a walk.

Happy Boxing Day to you all. Only just caught up on yesterdays thread. I forgot to post yesterday- sorry. I had to move my laptop as its usually on the dining table, which was all set up for the festive meal. I was pleased to see some people come out of lurkdom, post more its always nice to hear from you.I hope the sad ones amongst us found a way of getting through the day ( hugs)Gers glad you could taste your beef wellington!Taff thank you for the carols and songs. We had DB2 SiL, DSons for the meal, they arrived at 4. The turkey was beautiful but huge, I had to take a shelf out of the fridge on C Eve! I always use Phil Vickerys method where you place it on veg in the tray, with stock/wine, then steam it on the hob covered in foil for 5 mins before putting in the oven. The new oven was ok but doesn't seem to get as hot so the roasties took ages! It wasn't too late a night, DS2 shared a taxi home with DB & SiL.Today brings DS2 back with the DGC for their present opening, we FTimed both yesterday. DGD wants another C dinner, luckily lots of left overs so a bit easier todayIt feels a lot colder today, but clear skies. It was very wet yesterday.Right better love you & leave you and get organised. Take care all x

Silveroldie sometimes you just have to cry all day ,but today Face on and face the world !
Go for a walk ,smile and say morning to all you meet ,you may be surprised to be greeted too .
Maybe bite the bullet and ring your son ( moral high ground if nothing else ! )
I will be going back to my home after lunch and the silence will hit me .
Thats my 3rd Christmas without DH over and done with
Hope you all have a great Boxing Day ,you’ll never know how these threads especially you and the Daily Pleasures have got me through the last few years .
Thank you all x12 -
Thank you Suffolksue
I have tried to contact my DS on several occasions but he never answers calls or replies to messages.

Good morning everyone and a happy boxing day. Today looks like better weather, at least the sun is out and no rain. Unfortunately winds are forecast again for tomorrow, I will be watching my shed roof with trepidation in case of take off.
I spent a very quiet and reflective day yesterday , my first Christmas without husband also. lots of tears were shed but good memories there also.
I will be starting to think about planning the garden for next year soon. I have always been the labourer but now I have to be the brains behind the planning too. Not an easy task, the little grey cells will have to become little green cells. Heaven help me!
So I hope today will be kind for everyone, especially those alone, those who are poorly or those caring for loved ones xx

I’m so sorry to hear that Silver ,hugs
my Son in law’s partner has said something that has hurt me beyond measure and is cross that I’ve told her so (not nastily as I’m too upset )
She would like to remove all trace of my late daughter from my grandchildren. my son-in-law says they have moved on !,
I am so lucky that my DGD is now 20 and DGS now 18 so can see me without them ,but I know how hard it can be8
