in Credit cards
I needed to make a payment to a merchant whom I suspected was dodgy, so I wanted the extra protection of paying by credit card. He told me that he accepted this form of payment, and provided a link for me to use. The link was from Monzo and I read it carefully before making the payment.
Now it transpires that the payment I made was treated as a cash advance (there was nothing on the link to tell me this) and so I have no protection. And yes, the merchant has wrongly held on to more than £100 of my money.
Do I have any redress, either against the card provider or against Monzo for failing to provide the crucial information?

Merchants are not required to disclose their merchant category codes and if they did, it would be up to the credit card lender to determine if that falls within their 'cash-like-transactions' categories.
Depending on the nature of the business and reasons for payment you could have a couple of options for redress or absolutely none at all.If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.
Secured/Unsecured loans x 1
Credit Cards x 8 (total limit £55,050)
Creation FS Retail Account x 1
Creation Credit Sale 0% x 1 = £112.50pm x 20 mths
0% Overdraft x 1 (£0 / £250)
Mortgage Outstanding - £137,707.00 (Payment 13/360)
Total Debt = £7,400 (0%APR) @ £100pm - Stoozing0 -

Is this the service you used? https://monzo.com/help/business-getpaid/business-getpaid-stripecardpayments/
If so, Monzo are using Stripe to process payments, and the page linked above says you can raise a dispute with Stripe (presumably if the recipient has breached the agreement).
But I've no idea about Stripe's attitude to disputes.

The transaction was for the returnable deposit on accommodation, a deposit that the merchant 'forgot' to return.0 -
