Good morning. Just popping on to say Happy Christmas to everyone. I too read along but I will try to post in the new year. Special thoughts to those who are poorly, caring for someone with difficulties, have troubles or have lost a loved one. I lost my wonderful husband in August and will spend this Christmas alone with my memories and thoughts to help me through. This thread offers such support, laughter, advice and friendship to each other, long may it continue.
Thank you xx15 -

Strange - I thought that I had posted once back and yet it's not there! Perhaps I pressed a wrong button. This morning I had to go out to meet a friend who had collected some stuff for me from Oban. We did the exchange without any hugging as i'm still up past my neck in snot and he's about to have dental surgery on Wednesday so can't risk catching a cold. I now have more than sufficient food to see me through the next five days.Yesterday all my chores were managed smoothly. The first collection was early and then the Waitrose one arrived in two hours early too so I managed to be home before 3.00p.m. I didn't buy anything else apart from stocking up with meds from the pharamacy. The chap up the hill came down to pick up the present for his wife so he took some time to have a wee dram. I didn't have one and was in bed five minutes after he left. I only had a bowl of soup but couldn't face anything else. The weather is foul outside so I'm staying close to the box of tissues, the paracetamol and the TV remote. I send hugs and best wishes to all those feeling poorly (including me) and those feeling sad (including me) and hope that we can all see Christmas through without too much difficultiy.Happy Christmas to everyone.10

Hello everyone
Just thought I'd pop on and wish everyone a Merry Christmas for tomorrow. Hugs to everyone feeling poorly or sad.
Little one is just away home with her mummy - she's been here since yesterday morning and boy is she excited! It's so lovely to share it all with her though I admit I'm quite ready for a peaceful afternoon now! She had my dad singing Christmas songs with her this morning - she was so impressed he was wearing his Santa hat. I've some cooking to do later but other than that it will be a lazy afternoon.
Eldest DD has gone out to lunch with her cousin, I was pleased he asked her as she hasn't really got friends here any more - a lad she always used to go out for a drink with when she was home recently moved to New Zealand and her other friend has a bump! She just has a different life now but I know she feels it when she's home. She and her sister don't get on at all and haven't for a few years now so there's always a bit of tension at this time of year - it's a good job we have little one and her excitement. She's the perfect age for Christmas this year though I think she is a bit nervous about the idea of Santa coming in her house - I had to convince her he wouldn't come upstairs.
We'll be down at mam and dads house for lunch tomorrow and will see my brother and family too....dad will be tired by 5pm so DD and I will go up there for a drink then. I would imagine little one and her mummy will be shattered by then too!
Oh they moved into their new house on Wednesday and DD had to call the paramedics out on Friday night as little ones blood sugars were really low and didn't go back up - little one seemed to think it was hilarious when she'd only lived there 2 days! At least they know where she is now...and she was fine and didn't have to go anywhere in the end.
Ok best get on and then I can do nothing. Have a good day everyone x

Merry Christmas to everyone on here including our new posters - welcome and please do keep posting.I still have two lines so will be a quiet day tomorrow with just DH, DD and DS2. DS1 dropped pooch off earlier - he has a poorly paw and they can’t now take him to DIL2Bs house as there’s another dog there, so he’s my therapy for the next day or so 😊
DS1 stood at the bottom of the steps so as not to catch the lurgy. I feel okayish, just disappointed not to see wider friends and family ☹️Sending love and hugs to all who are missing loved ones at this time of year. Be kind to yourselves and I hope you can take comfort in your happy memories xxCross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 17/25 Currently reading The Ghost Fields by Elly Griffiths10 -
And I'm back in the room...briefly..I've been cooking and stealing a march on tomorrows cooking so the stuffing, brocolli cheese, mash [ possibly for tomorrow but more likely for polpette with salsa verde Boxing Day], sausage rolls, corned beef pasties, pigs in blankets and custard [for a trifle] are made. Just the salsa verde to make and that's it. Can you tell I like cooking and pull out all the roast on steroids stops?
And I've done the hoovering. the cats are happy they've had tuna time already, so today will be double tuna. We're off over OHs mums later for a buffet tea type thing, still haven't wrapped their presents..
I've sepnt Christmas Day by myself before and to be honest, I loved it. I cooked myself a roast, watched some films and had a few tipples and before you know it, bam! the day was gone...I understand however that it's not the same for everyone but for anyone alone, just remember that there are people thinking of you even if it's not the particular person you want it to be...I miss my mother quite a lot at this time of year becasue she really loved Christmas and it's not the same without her and my father, we don't have children, just the cats, so it's very quiet, but I still have the memories of them and the traditions we had together , panettone for breakfast anyone? , so there are always good memories to enjoy. For those of you who are not well, I wish a speedy recovery, for those of you alone, I will think of you and for those of you who have the Christmas you want, I applaud you. and after all, it's only a day out of 365 of them...And no need to thank me for the carols but thank you anyway, I'm not stopping till New Years Eve...answers on a postcard what the last one will betake care all, you've been a wonderful support over the year [s]
