hi, i've just submitted a probate application and i need to send the will. i was wondering if the probate office is likely to be open or at least someone to sign for mail between xmas and new year?

i'm just a bit paranoid that the will could potentially get lost if its floating around a post office sorting office for a couple of weeks. i know i can wait until the new year but would like to get this chapter of the process done and dusted if possible so i can forget about it for a while and try and enjoy xmas

not sure if anyone knows?

thanks in advance

I would generally expect government offices to be open (to the extent of accepting mail) on all the non-bank holidays. And even if not, your letter is going to be sitting in a sack of mail destined for their mailroom, it isn't going to be kicked around the sorting office in the meantime.

Given your worries, and I’d feel the same, are you sure if you do post it you would be able to forget about it and enjoy Xmas? Sounds like it might be better to get it all ready to post then relax until the new year and post it then. Worse case scenario it loses you a few days in the queue but there’s no knowing if it got there if it would be looked at before the new year anyway.

Remember to send it recorded delivery - and take a copy if you’ve not already done so, but don’t remove staples or fastenings!
