Smile direct refund

Hoping someone can help! I started a 'smile journey' with smile direct last year, and paid in full via PayPal. I was unhappy with the outcome and had numerous conversations with smile direct customer service about getting a refund which was agreed! It's been months and although I've rang multiple times; being told over the phone and in writing that my refund is being processed, as well as them taking different bank details over the phone, I've still not received anything!
Obviously their lines are closed now so I have no means to speak to anyone, not that'll help but I'm hoping for some clarity!!
Is it likely I'll receive a refund? Or can I take this further as I have evidence of them confirming/processing my refund?!

Smile Direct is insolvent, you will be one of the unsecured creditors.

Once administrators are appointed you can register as a creditor and depending on how much money is left after secured lender, employees, HMRC and a few others are paid you may get a partial refund. Being realistic, with most insolvent companies if you get a few pence for each £1 they owe you then you are doing fairly well.
  • Hi, wondering if anyone can provide me some clarity. I purchased smile direct last year and paid outright from my current account (no credit). I am mid treatment. Can I assume my money is just lost and there is no way to make a claim? Just want to be sure I’m not missing anything before I draw a line under it. Appreciate your guidance.

Speak to your bank & see if they are willing to help under the chargebacks for ongoing service. But the issue I can see is how to quantify the amount being claimed. As in theory you can not claim the full amount.

  • Thought that might be the case. Dreading the whole “I told you so” from my dentist 😩 Thanks for helping me. Looks like I just have to accept I made a mistake and chose the wrong provider.
