Octopus Energy not billing for my electricity

The reason they get such great reviews is that they work for the vast majority of people. In the rare cases they don't, it can be a real pain to address the issues, as you have no direct relationship with the companies running the actual infrastructure. Gas not reporting is not a major issue, as you should still be able to get billed on manual readings. The main thing is getting the electric meter reporting, as that's what gets you access to your discounted TOU tariff that is the real benefit of having a smart meter.DeepDiver said:I never wanted a smart meter, but had to get one I could use their intelligent octopus to charge my electric car. Had it installed end of July. It worked for about a week. Well, since then it's been a nightmare to get sorted. Gas was reporting OK but electric stopped working. It caused havoc trying to charge the car. It was a 30% chance it would work/charge. Contacting them was ot a problem. Getting it sorted is. I put a complaint in to speak to a manager. No response for almost a month. Shocking really. They tried a physical visit to reset the meter NG. They then decided to replace the electric meter. He came & changed it. It did not work so had to fit another one same day. Great, it started working. My car has been charging correctly, BUT, now the gas has stopped reporting after the electric meter was replaced. Time frame for all this. Fitted end of July. Replaced end of November, 4 months no electric bill. Now waiting for gas to be sorted which was reporting fine until the electric meter was replaced. I cannot understand how they get such a great review. Every thing was fine until I had to get a smart meter.

My gas meter failed (kept measuring but stopped being smart) two months after it was fitted. I was still able to switch to Octopus Go and get the TOU electricity while providing manual readings for gas.Eventually it was all sorted out and everything is good now.N. Hampshire, he/him. YES! I had no electricity bills for a few months, i noticed the meter was unreadable my side so they sent an engineer to fit a new one. (The engineer who fitted it told me not to trust the inhouse reader)
I was still paying £150 monthly so I thought I'd be OK when they finally put the new meter in and my electricity readings resumed.
After they changed it I contacted Octopus and continued to regularly email them, saying that I had been billed for gas and no electricity.
They finally last month issued a stack of bills, some estimates, (plus a meter change halfway through) I'm £700 in debt now!
I asked for a data subject access request, regarding the new meter and how they worked out the usage and if this is correct why did they not take my payments regularly months ago.
I'm totally confused , letdown and had huge anxiety, being so worried about the lack of bills. I've left them and gone with EDF.
Im happy to pay the debt, I just want to see the proof. So it's not just you it's me too!
