Morning all managed to sleep in till 5am this morning its been 3am since we got home so still seem to be running on 5 hours ahead so i am in bed at 7pm honestly i look back at being a child and couldn't wait to be grown up and going to bed late and now here i am looking forward to 7pm
Today i am taking DS to work and picking up the last few bits of food then off out tonight with my best friend of 51 years for our annual xmas meal so lots of laughter i am sure its a fabulous restaurant that we always use so looking forward to a nice meal i dont have to cook myself. I need to get out all the family gifts i have accumulated over the year to see whose pile needs topping up tomorrow when DH and I go present shopping
Weather here is still windy but dry
Have a good day one and all stay safe dry and warm xxSlava Ukraini13 -
Morning folks. The strong wind is still with us but nowhere near as bad as the gales of yesterday. My front garden is littered with the contents of someone's recycling bin which obviously came to grief. I'll go out with my grabbing stick once it's daylight.
I have been MIA this week but after bad news on Monday I haven't felt up to posting. My brother died suddenly from a massive heart attack and SIL's phone call flattened me. He has had numerous health problems over the last few years but none heart connected so it was a total shock for us all. SIL is coping very well but I don't think it has really sunk in yet. The bad news will be mixed with good for her over the next couple of weeks as their 4th grandchild is due imminently. It's so sad DB won't be here for that.
I have felt aimless since the news but today I had better get the duster and vac out and have a whizz round I suppose. I have tried reading along but it didn't sunk in so sorry if I have missed anything.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care and be safe xx

Morning all and thanks for the start @nmlc x
I tested positive for Covid last night. Thought I'd better test as felt worse as the afternoon progressed and had palpitations/spiking temperature at work so took myself out into the gusty wind for a breather. Two strong lines so have cancelled plans to see friends this evening and family get together tomorrow at DSis's as Mum is anti-vaxx so I can't risk it. We were meant to host ILs on Christmas Eve and right now that too is off the cards - just can't face having to get the house ready let alone the food. I had a restless night so got up at 5am for tea - which doesn't taste nice!
Sorry for the gloomy post! I hope everyone else is doing okay xxCross-stitch WIP: HSC Jingle Bells Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 05/25 Currently reading The last letter from your lover by Jojo Moyes13 -

We three kings of orient are,
bearing gifts we traverse afar
Field and fountain,
moor and mountain,
following yonder star.
O star of wonder, star of night,
star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect light.

I'm going to make corned beef pasties and sausage rolls today followed by a nap, followed by a spot of time in some kind of local drinking establishment maybe..Nothing much else doing over the next few days, just waiting in for parcels and wrapping stuff. I've been catching up on tv I haven't watched so I;ve just finished watching Bake Off, what a nice bloke he was...Chataeu Christmas stuff next...I have forgone the usual cookery programmes this year, maybe I finally know what I'm doingTA, my condolences to you and your dbs family, what a shock..Coxy, how party pooping for you, take care of yourself properly won't you? NRA, that's a lot of brithdays all at once, a buffet sounds infinitly better than cooking meals for thatFloss, no I haven't, I've never had chickenpox so not sure it applies but I'll ask now
Rosy, glad you had a nice coffee
and don't worry, I'll have some rum in mine on your behalf
bella, have a lovely meal out..Gers, hope you're feeling better. nanny, fried onions or boiled onions in corned beef pie? hope your brusing has gone now...Take care all, stay well if you can!

@TA - what dreadful news for you and your SIL, what a shock to you all. My DB died the same way very unexpectedly in 2007 and I can still vividly recall the telephone call from my SIL in a Melbourne so I can really understand how you are feeling. I know that your family will be wrapping their arms around you. Many condolences and love to you.@Coxy - oh no! That's so unfortunate, I hope that you will soon feel better. It's a worry that COVID is still being a menace. My own illness marches on. Yesterday the wracking coughing fits started, sometimes with short intermissions of sneezing. Last night I resorted to night nurse to fall asleep. I'll start my day shortly.I've forgotten who asked about the rainbow cloud, no, I didn't see it, would have loved too. I think it was more over the east coast as my friends in Darlo saw it.12
