Calculating claim free bonus years for home insurance

Hi - I'm in the process of renewing home insurance and getting a home insurance quote from Confused.com and its asking for number of years no claim bonus for buildings.
This is probably a stupid question but last year I filled this in as 7 years but we made a claim earlier this year for some guttering so is this now reset as zero years?

Most insurers ask how many years you have been claims free in which case the answer would be 0.
NCD however varies between insurers, many don't have NCD for Home hence the different question they ask. Those that do have it tends to be simpler than Motor and a claim wipes it out however were it Motor you'd have gone down to 3 years not 0 and there may be some Home providers that have done something more complex!
If you enter anything other than zero do make sure how its come across to the insurer before you buy... they may ask the claims free years question in which case you'd need to correct0 -

Thanks - the renewal invitation letter actually says "Contents: 7 years claim free, Buildings: 6 years claim free" which I think is what confused me in the first place.

Maybe you'd paid to protect your NCD hence you didn't lose it but didn't gain the extra year?
Follow what your renewal says but make sure before buying that the vendor also asks for NCD rather than years claims free1 -
I don't think I've ever seen a NCD protection option on a home policy?
Was the claim on home emergencies and that was a different sub policy maybe. Not sure it really makes a difference.0 -
No I didn't have any NCD protection not as far as I know anyway. Luckily the problems been resolved in that I went on live chat with my current provider and they agreed to match the Confused.com quote plus cashback so didn't need to go through Confused.com.

I don't think I've ever seen a NCD protection option on a home policy? The vast majority do not directly offer such a thing. Its basically a marketing gimmick offered by a handful. It serves no useful purpose.
