BG Standing order payments only - change of account number

If you have had an email from BG advising you of a change to your new online account. Then you will notice you will have a new account number. If you pay BG by standing order (or faster payments system) then you will need to change your payment reference at your bank to reflect this or your payments will go to your "old" account number and just sit there. I got my email on 30/11/2023 and whilst it did advise of the new account number, there was no mention of amending this on my standing order. My payments for Oct and Nov both left my account which was before I was advised of the change and it was only when BG chased me this week that I found out. They have now admitted the issue and will transfer the funds (hopefully) this week. I guess I should have known but I am probably not the only one who may miss this.
