Deleting files on old NAS drive

I’ve got a 2 bay Qnap NAS and an old Synology one that doesn’t work properly. They both have 2 HDDs in them. I don’t need the files that are stored on the old NAS drives as it’s also on my PC. I’m looking at getting a Synology 923+ to run as a media server and backup. Will I just be able to put all the old HDDs into my new drive then format them so I can start a fresh, or would I be better formatting one or more whilst in the old drive or should I format each of them in turn on the PC as I’ve got a 3.5” disc caddy attached to the PC? Sorry for all the questions just not sure which is the best way to go to basically start a fresh on the new drive.

Earlier this year I retired my 10-year old Netgear Duo and replaced it with a Synology DS218
I removed one drive from the duo, put it in the DS218 and let it format and prepare it.
Then I copied all the data across via an external USB3 drive.
Then I moved the 2nd drive from duo to the DS218 and let it synchronise the two drives.
This was using Synology's 'Hybrid RAID' mode, was pretty much effortless.
You can't format the drives for the Synology in a P/C or the old NAS, it needs to do it's own thing.
If you don't need the data on them, just move them both to the Synology and let it format them itself.
