DH is still faintly positive here, which is a great shame, as the children are taking me out for a birthday lunch today! It's the birthday where you have to renew your driving licence for the first time

dp1 said:. They had their first night at the new house last night and she'd gone straight to sleep in her new bed....she'd also been very excited to walk to school this morning instead of going in the car. DD has decided not to put a Christmas tree up at this late stage and is just putting things up little one has made at school and their cards. No doubt she'll go all out next year and her living room will be like a grotto the first week in December.

Morning everyone I’ve just finished my last cleaning jobs of the year I battled up the hill and was blown down it’s wild just have to do my volunteering at the food waste in the morning and two shifts at work it can’t come fast enough . Silver Oldie I’m sorry you feel so drained after your counselling try and stick with it but only you can decide weather it is going to help you or not there’s no easy answer for grief I lost my sister suddenly a good few years ago it was a big shock at the time I was so busy and about six months later we went on holiday I was walking along the beach thinking about nothing and all of a sudden I couldn’t breathe and a doctor ran and helped me I had had a massive panic attack I’ve never had one before or since and I think it was just my body and mind processing everything have a big hug from me . Gers my sister makes me laugh she always says she wishes they would have the Xmas markets at a better time of the year because she has missed so many because of the weather. Snoozer I hope Steve gets home and is improving.WL happy birthday 🥳. Right quick cuppa and off to work thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing10

Said the night wind to the little lamb,
do you see what I see
Way up in the sky, little lamb,
do you see what I see
A star, a star, dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite

。❅*⋆⍋*∞*。*∞*⍋⋆*❅。Morning! I have to go out to the docs for an appointment, fetch some stuff from a local shop as present for OHs stepdad, visit some charity shops to look for some particular books, and maybe indulge myself in some crochet equipment..House is much tidier today. The wind is blowing quite a lot so far but no rain yet, to be fair though, it's not like I'll be slogging through it if it does, I'll be in a car, or a shopNo tree this year i don't think, unless i see a small one anywhereI don;t fancy the faff or the rearranging of things ot make a space, i might just go foraging and get a few boughs because I do love the smell. There's no rush for wrapping presents either, Christmas with our friends on Friday is cancelled as one of them has shingles. Having never had chickenpox I'm loath to go in case. I know it's a statistically small chance but Id rather not.
SilverOldie, I would second keep going for a few, it took me a while to release the mental load. But if I hadn't have gone, I wouldn have been in the same place I was for a lot longer without the help. camelot, enjoy the brief bit fo peaceRuby, hope you got your petrol sorted...enjoy the day out
Gers, enjoy your trip away if you do go, fingers crossed for a miraculous recovery! Sue, I'm with you on the noisy, that's OHs niece and nephew, I think I'm just allergic to children in general
snoozer, good to hear you're all better! bella, it sounds lovely, I love learning about different cultures, even the little things are interesting. nanny, do you think it was the big man and he was a bit lost?
dp1, glad your dd is in there now...enjoy the party! Izzy, my condolences much belatedly..hope your shifts go quickly and you enjoy some time off for a change!
and a very hapy birthday WL!! Take care all, be like the weebles, wobble but don't fall down...

Gers, enjoy your trip away if you do go, fingers crossed for a miraculous recovery! Thanks - but I'm not anticipating a recovery of any sort! Which is why I'm abandoning my plans to go to the ballet. It was an expensive ticket but I won't worry about that, not spreading germs is more important. I can at least sit in the hotel bar sipping a glass of medicinal wine or two with a rarely seen friend. The weather is getting less windy but more miserable with rain and cold coming through. I've spoken to my bereaved friend to explain why I haven't been up to see him, he's far too frail for me to waft my germs around. His wife's funeral is now planned for a week tomorrow.6

Just popping in to wish WL a very Happy Birthday x
Gers and Snoozer family sorry you have all been so poorly hope you recover soon and hope Steve is home later x
DP1 hope they both settle into their new home quickly.
Silver sending you hugs keep going with counselling, as others have said you will find it helpful a bit further down the line xx
DMIL funeral went very well and there was laughter which I know she would have loved. Thank you for all the kind messages x
Been shopping this morning for veg and last few bits. The travelator going back to the car park has broken down so there was a big queue for the 2 lifts. Lovely staff were handing chocolates out to people in the queue. Shop was busy but not as bad as I had feared
It's DH birthday on Saturday and as well as my DD and her Ddad and 2 DGC who are coming for Christmas we are having DBIL,DSIL,their DD and 2 DGS for the day.
I have bought paper plates, nibbles, pizza, chicken straps and sausage rolls. Will be doing enough cooking on Christmas day so buffet style it is. Very lazy but I want everyone to celebrate and not have a couple of us confined to the kitchen.
Very windy here today so please everyone take care.
Hugs to all who want them

Late again, we had to go and look after DGS so Ds could go to work for a bit. Apparently he had been coughing a lot in the night and as they were having forest school today in the wind and rain DS decided to keep him off. He's fine apart from the bouts of coughing so he might go in for the last day tomorrow with its early finish but that's up to his DM.Defrosted the freezer this morning, had a delivery and also an early visit from DB1 & SIL, after they visited a local butcher..WL have a lovely birthday!Hope the poorlies start to feel better soon.Dp1, glad DD and little one are in their new home ready for Christmas , and she can walk to schoolShame about your cancelled Xmas with friends Taff.In answer to your question about me imbibing Christmas cheer whilst present wrapping- no I don't drink
- did have a nice coffee though
DH is finishing the painting in the hall, so my photo gallery has had to be taken down, I took a photo to remind me where they all go.Not sure what's for tea, due to childminding duties going on longer than anticipated, we had a very late lunch so may just have a snack.Take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Hello all and thanks for the start @nmlc x
Cold now in full swing and I had a restless night as lying on my back made me cough and lying on my side made my nose drip! All very yuck. However I am dosing up with lemsip capsules and drinking green tea with lemon plus feeding my cold.
I have had no work to do today only one meeting. Really hope things will pick up in the new year – hospital is very quiet due to junior doctors strike, but A&E busy as usual so any spare clinical resources are being sent there.
I managed to wrap everything last night bar one gift for DS2 which requires me to purchase a frame in Poundland at the weekend. Everyone was out so it seemed a good use of my time and glad I did it.
Dinner tonight is yummy sweet chilli chicken, rice and veg. Grabbed veg at lunchtime to go with it.
Glad you got to eat with everyone else yesterday @camelot1001. Be careful out in that wind x
Really pleased that the Snoozers are on the mend and hopefully Steve can come home tomorrow x
Give the counselling time @silver-oldie, you’ve been through such a lot this year x
Shame that you won’t see the ballet @Gers but good that you will still meet your pal. Take care on those roads. We had sausage and mash last night and it was very tasty.
Safe journey @Suffolksue x
Enjoy your birthday lunch @WickedLady4, such a shame that DH won’t be able to join you all L
Glad you had a good trip @bellabella
Hope your special guest made an appearance @dp1!
Glad you were able to celebrate MILs life with some cheer @newroadahead x
Right back to wiggling the mouse and trying to look busy!!
