Hello chums, well halfway through January already, another NSD today, but tomorrow I will be going to Dobbies for my freebie coffee morning then to Tesco's for a shop, then the library to drop off a book, then home after dropping stuff off at the CS as well.
I'm hoping that the shopping won't be a great deal as I am eating and shopping from my cupboards and freezer at the moment.
Snow is forecast mid week in Kent, once I'm home tomorrow I shall be staying in until its gone.
My clapped out joints don't bounce very well on icy pavements, and after last year I don't want to go near a hospital again for a good long while.
Its mainly fresh fruit & veg and some dairy stuff, and maybe a treat for myself for keeping away from the shops this monthI am well under budget at the moment which is good.
Mind you tonight I should get the quote from the decorator for some sprucing up decorating he will be doing to my house as I shall be selling it hopefully in the next month or so, it could be a belt-tightening shopping trip
I shall know by tonight.
Onwards and upwards chums

GolfR said:keggie said:GolfR said:I found someone local giving away kefir grains so I popped down there this morning and called into Waitrose after. Got a sushi rolling mat, whole organic milk for the kefir,
When I started, I bought a new sieve and kilner jars that only get used for my kefir.Just been for more milk so need to get my next batch on the go.The first batch was definitely awful! I think my error was using way too many grains for the amount of milk I had so I used a lot less grains this morning when I remade it. Do you find it tastes different to shop bought kefir? I’m trying to figure out how I know it’ll be done correctly
i think it tasted different to the shop bought stuff I used to have but now that long ago I’ve forgotten what that tasted like 🤣
Once it is going I just keep the grains alive in a small container of milk in the fridge but think if longer than a few days they can be frozen. My dad does that but if I’m going away I just give them to him to look after just like the dog 🤔GC 2024 £1445.91/£3000

Hi everyone, sorry I've been missing in action again.
Last week I came in £5.07 under budget.
This week I've so far I've around £3.50 left.
I had a wobble as a vegetarian and had a brief spat eating fish and wasted a chunk of budget and cleared up some freezer space.
I'd loads of vegetables in the freezer with not much to go with it, so made the most of frozen offers in Tesco.
Although I will need to get potatoes in the next few days as I've 2 left, plus some fruit.
I hopefully will learn and budget better.

Morning everyone, spent some money last week as went somewhere that had a giant farmfoods next door. Having the big sains shop delivered tonight, found I had 12 of 80 so made use of that and with my granddads eggs took off spent £62.40. We did order Uber 50% off fruit and veg last night but they delivered it somewhere about 3 miles away, so I’m waiting for a refund for that and had to add the items on to my shop for tonight. Every time I get takeaway or shopping something goes wrong so I have deleted the app now to make a stand
total spent £211.63.Shouldn’t be able to do to much damage this week with no car, so hopefully no spending until next week now.9 -
