Hi all, thank you @elsiepac, for running this thread and keeping us all on the straight and narrow.
My budget for 2024 will be, £1740, for the year. This is for two adults, (£1440) and three grand children fed occasionally, also stuff used by all, eg. toilet rolls, dishwasher tablets, milk, etc. (£300, provided by DD1)
I've done well this year and may end with a few left over. See you all in the new year, hugs, mumtoomanyFrugal Living Challenge 2023.
Trying to live on only £2640 for the year for most meals for seven people. Now only feeding, mostly, two. New total £1860.

Happy Christmas elsiepac, thank you for taking us into another year.
I'm trying to keep my annual budget to £1200, but I may have to adjust that later in the year. I'm hoping to eat mostly from stores in January, only needing fresh fruit, milk and bread, but I'll also stock up on any non-perishables that are on offer. I live alone so there may be some unusual meals to "use it up", and spends include everyday toiletries and household stuff.

Hi, I’d like to join you again in 2024.
my annual budget this year will be reduced as two have moved out and one is at uni some of the time
I’ll again make the budget an annual one - £4000
This works out to £75 per week and £100 for stocking up on bulk buys.
Thank you for running the thread and for all the inspiration I get from the contributors xx9 -

I'm in for January, starting 26th with a budget of £200 for the month for 2 of us to include toiletries/cleaning stuff. I have a full to bursting Freezer and Pantry and want to reduce my stock so i can make use of offers more. I am terrible at overbuying (have 5 kids, all left home so am conditioned into buying bulk) Anything left at the end of the month will put into a pot for a Costco shop.
I have a £6 off a £40 shop for Sainsburys to be used by 28th, and then hopefully they will give me another voucher for the next week.
Merry Christmas all!

On the basis that my grocery budget is the one that always seems to be overspent, I feel I really need to join in on this one. I've always kept a record of how much I spend on food, well everything I spend really, but this is something I need to rein in. I usually average £400 a month, which seems a lot for two of us, but we have a large extended family and when I feed all of us it's probably a week's budget for one meal! I'll start with
£350 per month
Hopefully I should come in way under in January as I'm pretty well stocked at the moment. I'll be making an effort to reduce it by at least £10 extra each month.

Welcome @pastmysellby. You will gain lots of tips on here. This will be my third year and I am learning the times supermarkets reduce certain items. Just before christmas is a really good time to buy half price roasting joints. I bought a £9.00 gammon reduced across all sainsburys to £4.89 and, 2 prime beef roasting joints at half price too. I cut them all in half and they are in the freezer. I also buy a whole chicken when it is on offer and stick in freezer. I can easily get 4 meals from a chicken and then save up all odd bits of bacon and ham to make pies with at the end. This week as veg went on sale for 19p i spent a whole day chopping, blanching and freezing. Saved £6.00 on veg and £25 on meat. It took me a while to settle into retirement but when I took on this challenge I decided to treat grocerys as my job. It gives me a purpose and I really enjoy it. I make my own pastry,, cook my own cakes and hardly never buy ready meals. We also have less takeaways (down to about 6 a year) but they are out of a seperate budget I am not very good at spotting yellow sticker items though.
Good luck with your challenge. I hope that you find a way to bring you costs down that works for you.craft stash 2023 =161 items 2024 = £60.00 /£180. 00
