UK Travel Insurance cover adjustment of contract at work

HI
I was wondering if travel insurance would cover a change of shift pattern meaning my days off no longer allow me to travel.

I work 4 on 4 off 12 hour shifts on nights.
I have planned to go to Birmingham for a convention on the 31st of may till the 3rd on my 4 days off I've paid around £500 for convention tickets and hotel already.
However I have heard rumors about shift patterns changing to cover staff leaving, ie a reasonable adjustment due to needs of the business and given 4 weeks notice (no notice or anything official has been raised yet)
I know the travel insurance I bought would cover me for redundancy but would it cover me for  this change of contracted hours,  knowing my place of employment if I don't voluntarily agree agree they will use the fire and rehire option.

and that I have nothing official yet would their be an insurance that would cover it?

Thank you for any advice/help in advance

Richard

Surely if you want to confirm time off you just book annual leave to cover any changes? It’s not going to be covered by travel insurance.

  • unfortunately due to child care I won be able to place it outside term holidays.
i was hoping the "fire and rehire" might allow me under the redundancy cover

This isn't redundancy, it's your employer b*ggering around with your booked leave. I can't see it ever being an insured risk, it's something you'd need to negotiate with your employer.

Redundancy is not to do with the individual, it’s where your job role is no longer needed. Which doesn’t apply here.
