Natwest Credit limit

in Credit cards
Hi,
I have contacted Natwest to move credit limit between two cards. However, I have been told they will only combine credit linit if I hold 30k in savings. This can be in any UK bank.
Has anyone else came across that? Strange requirement.
Thanks

I’ve never heard of a bank considering savings as income with a credit card - unsure why this would be required to merge accounts, it does seem a strange request.
If you have two CC’s with NatWest I don’t see what the issue is (perhaps type of card dependent) on merging them - surely it’s the same as you have two cards?0 -
This is 1st example I've known of from OP Iv'e <75 to clear my lower limit NW CC.
I was going to combine with my 8k card making new limit 9.4k
I had combined what was 3rd NW card which made 2nd Card to 8.1k
I don't recall being questioned over Savings etc.
I guess it could be some Tighter Lending Restriction?

I called them twice, first person I spoke with said they received email that merging credit limit is not allowed anymore. Another person said merging limit has stopped unless the customer has 30k in savings with any bank.Dandytf said:This is 1st example I've known of from OP Iv'e <75 to clear my lower limit NW CC.

Tighter lending but they are not providing additional lending. They merging them into one.
I might have to arrange closure of the cards if they are no longer useful to keep.0 -
I was told the same thing yesterday. I already have a NW Rewards CC & called them up to check if it could be changed into their 0% Balance Transfer CC. I was told I will have to apply for that CC specifically & if I wanted to transfer the limit from my existing Reward CC to the new 0% Balance Transfer CC, I will have to call them & provide evidence of £30K savings in any bank or have a named Premier Manager!!!0
