Pending payments may not be claimed when TL doesn't have a transaction to match them to. I know it's upsetting, but try not to worry. It's one of the reasons I use banking/CC apps - you can see the transaction almost immediately. I had this problem with a local company - money went out but no order confirmation. I managed to sort it out with the local company - but my CC provider had said they would reverse the transaction if the company couldn't find it.5

Try to be kind to yourself in the same way you would be kind to any of us who had been right royally jerked around by websites, banks and so called customer services.I think you said you were making flexible bookings so in the very worst scenario could you just cancel the booking and get a refund? However, like others I suspect pending won't turn into actual, fingers etc crossed for you,6

Dearest Blackcats - I hope that pending doesn't turn into actual too. Yes, the bookings were at the flexible (higher) rate - but the problem is i have no booking reference to quote to cancel. According to the booking manager section, I have no bookings in my name, for the dates or hotel in question 😬
Having previously only had to cancel a PI booking, although I haven't paid (at the time of booking or cancellation), I have always had a booking confirmation code to quote - linking in to the date, place and nature of booking.

Good Morning MFW'rs,
I made the mistake of reading Lucy's latest post on Attic24 before coming here, she enquired which direction she should pursue with her new blog - 347 comments! More of the same please Lucy, absolutely adore her bloggy style. But 347 comments - people turned up in their droves to support her. Yes, I heartily agree, the internet can be a wonderful space. I'm minded of what a wonderfully caring and supportive community we have here too. Now I've gone all teary-eyed, and can't see the 'puter screen.... silly sausage.
Right, I'm all behind because of recent shenanigans. But.....
Shopping today. Haven't got much left in the budget, which is just as well, as most of the money in my bank account is ring-fenced, and I don't need to go overdrawn to add to my woes.
I need to get a uniform wash on. Drying prospects aren't brilliant, but there is a possibility of getting partially dry, with a slightly stronger breeze promised for this afternoon.
Club tonight. No fees this week, and LG seems to think they won't be eating tea, as refreshments are included in tonight's meet. I shall believe that when I see it, and have an option up my sleeve.
I must get the l/o keema cottage pie out of the freezer - DH and I will have that for our tea.
I was going to try to do the cake baking again today, but realistically, it's not going to happen. I need to check on the bank instead, and if necessary, find out if they can pull the pending payments. Although I am still hopeful lack of a booking confirmation number will play out as TL not claiming the money. A time for a steady nerve, perhaps.
DH has done the homework activity with LG this morning. We have one more to do tonight and then another tomorrow morning. I still get the impression LG is one of the only children doing anything in class, but of course, the school don't let on. Apparently the children had to complete 'satisfaction' surveys at school this week 🙄 And people in 'power' wonder where we've gone wrong with schooling........................
Right, best shift-a-tail-feather. Thanks, as always for popping in and having a convo. Appreciated, so much.

Good Afternoon MFW'rs
Shopping done, but I'll start with a wee update.
Ref: TL saga. There has been a slight development, and I want to share it with you, as you've all been so good at holding my hand for the past couple of days.
I returned to the bank today, and the money is still shown as pending. I had a word with a member of staff, and they confirmed that the money is in pending 'limbo-land', and until TL either claim it (or don't) there is nothing that can be done. According to 2 members of staff (the other was listening in), it will either drop out of pending, unclaimed (as stated by several of you lovely MSE'rs), or, if it is 'taken' I can then 'try' to get the money back 😱 Not, "you can get your money back because you received no goods or services (hotel room booking)", just, "you can try to see if you can get your money back". **sigh**.
However, on return home, I checked my emails, and to be fair, there was a response from TL customer services. They have looked to see if a booking has been made, and can find no reference, at all for the date, place and name of booking. Therefore, they outlined the same procedure as you all told me, and the bank stated. The pending payments "should" go unclaimed and be available to my bank account again. They say allow 10 days......
So, whilst it's not done and dusted and sorted, we have made progress, I am a lot less stressed, and am immensely grateful to all you wonderful MSE'rs for helping me, giving me advice and guidance, and generally being spiffily supportive. Thank you. All.
Shopping was done and dusted very quickly. I didn't buy alot in either MrS nor MrL - I've all but given up on hB, but they did have yoghurt in, so I got a pot. I did then call into the little hB in the town centre when I went to the bank, and was able to get the apples and sugar I needed. In total, I'm pretty sure I have 'just' overspent on my £200 budget as I spent £26.57. And no, dear reader, I did not get alot for my money, and I'm narked that I'd missed off tinned tomatoes on my list. I have one tin in store 😱 (do I have to hand my MSE'r badge back in??), but I do have quite a bit of tommie sauce in the freezer. But I like to have tins on hand to put in a curry or soup or whatever. Still, I hopefully can limp to Tuesday.
I remembered to get the keema cottage pie out of the freezer, and the school uniform is drying OK.
I might even get some baking done this afternoon. No excuse now that I've got sugar again.
Thanks for listening, thanks for being here and thanks for supporting me - and others, it's super appreciated.

I'm sure it is now 2 full working days since their uselessness started. Time to stop worrying. The only ones I have had that have taken longer than 2 days are things like Holland & Barratt who don't put them through until despatch. And if they are really that stupid get ready for a good compensation payment, which sorry is not going to happen because they are not going to take it.5

I totally understand your feeling of panic about only 1 tin of tomatoes. I'm the same about them and also onions because so much of my cooking starts with onions and has a tin of tomatoes in. I usually get twitchy if I have fewer than 4 in the pantry.
Mind you, you're obviously going to be fine because you always seem to conjure up amazing-sounding meals. I'm very much wishing I had homemade keema cottage pie for my tea tonight!6 -
Thanks badmemory - I must admit, when I saw that the amount was still pending today, I did hope that it was a good sign, and that if it was going to go, it would have gone by now.
I've never had this happen before, so i was just so shocked - particularly when the bank adviser showed me the list of 4 transactions. We all know the value of a £ on this site, and so £200 is a shed-load to just 'lose'. If the money doesn't go out of the account, I still am not trying to book a room with TL ever again. We've gone with PI now, fingers crossed the room is nice, it's location is still makes access to attractions easy and it all adds to our enjoyment of the hols 😁
I have paid up the balance on our accommodation for the week now. Over the phone, with a very pleasant owner, same card, bish-bosh, no bother.......... So the issue must be with TL. Now to plan, plan and plan some more to make sure we have fun together as a family, and enjoy the time away.
