My dad uses any beans he has in stock but usually cannellini beans , butter beans or whatever you prefer. If I make it I use the classic recipe on BBC Good Food . Instead of the Cavolo Nero I just put some broccoli in. I would say it is a lovely autumn/ winter meal.Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.6

Thanks Sunshine_girl2 - I shall investigate and put it on the list to try. No reason why we wouldn't like it, so absolutely worth a try. Thank you for mentioning it 🥰

just catching up. What lovely wholesome days out, and so much fun. (Fly masks for horses have become a thing as they get so bothered by flies and fly repellents don't really work. The chemicals of my childhood are now thankfully banned).Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!6 -

Watty - thank heavens nasty chemicals have been banned - the insects possibly become immune anyway. One of the horses, I think it was a Cob, obviously was a character, but was wearing it's 'camo' face mask under duress, but it had managed to flip the bottom of the mask up (I know that's not good, as don't the nostrils need protecting too?) so that it could whinny with impunity and nibble at the trees in the orchard. The other horse and donkey were much more accepting, and had much more 'ladylike' attire 😂 The other horse we saw - on a different day - had a (lightweight) coat on too, with an actual (sewn in) collar, it was a boiling day, poor horse.
So week 3 of the hols has started. We were due a 'slow' day today. We walked into Greying Town, to the library and printed off a HM 'Thank You' card for a relative who'd sent a bit of cash to oil the 'ice cream purchases' of the school hols 😁 and took the opportunity to print off a couple more pics for the diary too. We stayed in the library - it was coolish - and wrote the note and envelope and stuck on a stamp. We then went to the nearest 2 postboxes that had already been emptied for the day 🤪 so trudged off to the post office. We then went in search of YS'd bargains in M&$. Only found a punnet of (Scottish) strawberries, whilst not super-duper cheap, where an 'acceptable' price for a treat. We then went in search of a milkshake. The first place we tried - a chain - you have to wait to be seated. I thought it a bit odd that it was completely empty. I told the girl what I wanted, and she hesitated, and then said 'take a seat'. Then she came over to our seat a few minutes later with 'all' the menus and announced that their milk shake machine was broken 🙄we left, explaining it was milkshakes we wanted. We did find another cafe - it sold milkshakes and LG was invested by then, so I ended up paying £9 for 2 milkshakes 😱They were OK, in fancy glasses with a straw with an optional whipped cream topping, but........... Anyhoo, it was a treat, and milkshakes are healthy, right?
LG is pestering for us to take our lunch out somewhere, but I can't think of a close by location that would offer shade.
£1.19 for the strawberries, the milkshakes came from the holiday fund.
LG asked (when we were walking into town) if we could have Yorkshire puddings for tea 🥵 I explained that it wasn't really the weather for yorkies or having the oven on 🥵 But they were to hold the thought, and in cooler weather, we could and they could make them (they have the touch and make the pouffiest yorkies).
Off to amend siggie figgie and make a sarnie, which may, or may not exit the building (not via the gift shop......).

I love that LG has a super-power - making Pouffiest yorkies
I'm seriously impressed by your efforts to entertain and stimulate LG during the summer holidays. I grew up in the 1970's and we would walk up and down into town every day and that was it (or at least that was pretty much all I remember doing ...)

I just wanted to be left alone to read in the holidays. Either in my bedroom, in front of the fire, or in the garden.
And being bored is good for children (and adults!). It helps with creativity. We soon stopped being bored when we were offered activities like doing the ironing, mowing the lawn, sowing on name tapes, weeding, doing washing up etc...
