I planted some bulbs at last year and noticed yesterday that they are starting to pop up. Never been a gardener so happy that they look like they are doing what they shouldMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Brie - he can always call Pensionwise, but I'm pretty sure he said other colleagues called before they retired and they weren't any help. He can get projections of what he will get online, but he is waiting to see what his work offers him. I did just see this article on Monevator. Can you afford to live to 100? - Which? News
I am about to have a bath and then get dressed and go for a walk. I want to find some podcasts to listen to. I might just go to the park today and not the beach. It looks like another nice day. I'm hoping I can start using my washing line properly next week.

Enjoying the slow pace at the minute.
Had a bit of sunshine here and decided to get out and tidy the front garden and side of the house up a bit before the bins go out. Im sure I have bulbs somewhere to plant - they may be hidden away in a box in the greenhouse that I collapsed because I didnt want to lose it in the storms so will have a look out there later. I have some pepper / chilli / bean seeds to start soon so it makes sense to do some bulbs at the same time as well and add some colour to the garden.
Have also sat and made a list to start decluttering the house. I am so fed up of stuff everywhere and things looking cluttered or a mess. We are starting to look at buying a house and I dont want to have to take boxes and boxes of things with us that are just junk.
I also found a load of bread flour that I need to use up soon so Im thinking I might make some pizza dough to freeze and maybe re try making some fresh bread. I treated myself to a stainless steel mixing bowl the other day for £3 so what better way to break it in than using up something that needs using.

I’m really enjoying this thread…..all the lovely ‘slowies’ and the retirement talk.
I am so looking forward to retirement and plan on stopping work at 61 so still got about 3.5 years left, Mr M will be 65 then, so the plan is to retire at the same time. I never considered taking a less stressful part time role, but you have now all got me thinking….maybe I should go at 60 and do this.I also made many of my own cleaning products, I began when I started trying to reduce my impact on the environment and got an excellent book with some great cleaning ‘recipes’ in, the book is called Fresh, Clean Home by Wendy Graham.
its a lovely day here, quite bright and much warmer than it has been of late, took the dogs for a lovely walk in the woods, followed by a leisurely late breakfast. I’m struggling to find a local window cleaner so I’ve decided to do 1/4 of the house today, 1/4 on Wednesday, 1/4 on Friday and the last 1/4 next Saturday. I live in a bungalow, so have windows on all 4 sides and decided doing a side at a time rather than all at once will not seem as daunting (cleaning windows isn’t a job I like). However one side of the bungalow windows are now sparkly both inside and out and it worked, I didn’t mind doing it as I only had 2 windows and a door to clean.
This afternoon I’ve been watching football and just off to prep the veg for dinner and this evening will be planning the week ahead in my journal, I find if I write it in my schedule it’s much more likely to happen so I’ll make sure that swimming is in there this week as I haven’t been very much so far this year.Well Behaved women seldom make history

I did go to the beach again and it was even busier than yesterday. I also walked down this little path I noticed the other day and it lead to the park. I was thinking that there are still places here that I want to see. I've never been to Shoebury East Beach for one. I was thinking of the advice to be a tourist in your local area and I might go on the seaside bus that tourists go on as well.
I did buy that book that someone on here recommended. I bought the hard copy.

@mrs_slapshot were farmers and employ a number of people on 16 hour we week contracts. Think picking and packing work of Eggs/mushrooms/veg etc. I think people enjoy at they get to do something that’s quite physical and you can see what you’ve achieved at the end of the day. We’re also not some big faceless corporation. If you have a grumble it goes direct to the boss. And if he doesn’t listen he’ll be doing the job within a month so they can sit back and watch with satisfaction!!Nice slow day here. Spent all morning going through school/family emails. Then reading by the fire this afternoon before a dog walk. Have just finished reading a biography of Laura I ingalls wilder which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed.12

@zcrat41 that’s so interesting- today I’ve spent a couple of hours fitting new fence panels (storm Isha ran riot in my garden last week!) and tidying up outside and it made me really feel like I’d achieved something!! So timely with your post too.I’m not sure I’d be fit enough to work on a farm but I can definitely see that satisfaction in a physical job.9

I did finally reserve a book at the local library as well (I have lived here almost 2 years and not used the library yet!) a Harlan Coben book.
I am not sure what happened to the sunny weather as it is chilly and grey here. I just put the heating on.
We have a leak in our bathroom sink so we have a plumber from Checkatrade coming over today. We had so many problems with water leaks last year and so I want this fixed asap.
