    Thank you JerryJ64.

I don't actually mind contacting them but I have no intention of paying them. I simply need the information they hold on me and what their invoice relates to.

I've just taken a drive to my old address and they said they have not received any mail for me, I was a long shot and of course it could have been binned long ago.

I would really appreciate a little help on what to do next. Is some form of Debt Validation Letter as JerryJ64 suggests a good idea? If so I could do with a couple of hints on what to write.

    Thanks in advance.
It is DRP, as I said.  I can tell from the language.

    Ring them up.

    Put the phone on loudspeaker.

Record the call on another device but not recording at the point where you give your personal data.  Mute it temporarily then resume recording.

    Do not pay.

Do not let them witter on about payment plans, LOL!  Do not be bullied or misled.

When they threaten court, just laugh and say "Lovely, bring it on, but you need to sort out your incorrect address data first because you must have been writing to a wrong address",

Ask them which address they reckon they've been writing to.  If it is wrong tell them to ERASE that data and RECTIFY it.

    Use those words.

Ask them to send you all the so-called evidence to the right address.

Show us a link to the recording.  No personal data recorded.

Thanks Coupon-Mad, I really appreciate your advice.

I have tried ringing twice today, recorder in hand, but their on-hold times are ridiculous!

I'll try again later and post the results here.. If I finally manage to get through that is.
  • The result??

Well, it looks like they were chasing the wrong guy! I eventually spoke to a young lady at DRP and without giving her any of my personal information, other than the reference number, she asked me whether I own or have ever owned a certain make of car with last digits of *** in the registration. My answer was an honest NO and that was that.

They have promised not to text or call me again and admitted that it was a false trace. Not sure how they can get things so wrong but its a case in point to everyone who receives texts but no letters from debt collection companies that they should always check the validity of the alleged infringement with the debt collectors asap.

All I hope now is that they are true to their word.

And all that said, I'd like to thank this forum and forum members, especially Coupon-Mad who helped me on this and all who have supplied a huge resource of helpful information and time to help people like me.

    That's a good outcome.

Glad it wasn't anything more than
a false trace.  They are writing to someone with the same name as you, and somehow they got your details when they asked a CRA for an address & phone number check.

This is the third time recently we've heard of DRPlus chasing the wrong person. They need to buck their ideas up as this is not OK.

Thats really bad. I can understand how this might worry some people unduly. I still got another demand text from them this morning :D but will give them the benefit of doubt, once and once only, to clear me off their system.

Then it will be harassment and I don't take to kindly to that :#.
