Best kind of Apple Watch screen protector?

Have bought my mother an AW for Xmas for the health & organisation features which I feel will be beneficial to her. My sister on the other hand doesn't think she'll wear it so we shall see.
If she decides to keep it then I'm looking to see what kind of screen protector is seen as best for these?
The reason I'm asking...
I always had 'tempered glass' screen protectors for my phones. The flimsy flappy plastic ones would always bubble & weren't very good. Stick one of these 'glass protectors' on & the bubbles would sort themselves out, job done.
Then I moved to Samsung (S10 and now the S20) and tempered glass protectors were a nightmare. First off what I didn't realise when I auto-bought them was that they weren't compatible with cases but secondly they didn't get on well with the fingerprint either.
So then I moved to the Spigen Neoflex protector - where you squirt the phone screen, squirt the protector, apply it & then push out the liquid. It wraps around the curved edges no problem, it's fine with cases (so long as you line it up bob on) & it's no issue with the fingerprint.
My preference would be the tempered glass (in the case of my phones) but as I say, they're not good for my phone so I had to look at alternatives.
Don't want to get caught short in the watch situation only to find in some real-world use it would've been better to buy a different type of protector.
Over to those of you who have them...

I have worn apple watches for several years - never needed a protector. I personally wouldn't bother. Phones yes - watch no. Unless she works in an industry where she's banging her arms into concrete walls all day I'd leave it as standard.

I have a Garmin FR965 myself & the only protector available was a wet-application one but I also got a bumper too as my job is pretty manual.
Good thing I did too because the amount of times I've whacked it when cleaning out the fire at home!! Which is something my mother does as well (also has a multi fuel stove, i've no idea if she catches her wrist or not). Granted she could remove the watch when doing this job or anything like it but then it all gets a bit faffy.0 -

Not sure which size you're getting - likely the smaller one? As much as screen protectors don't stop you using the touch screen - I think they do reduce sensitivity slightly - and that's more important on the watch where you're dabbing little app icons that are 5mm wide than when you're using your phone. It does sound like there is a minor risk though if she's often cleaning out the fire. It's a difficult call sometimes - but I'm not the most careful person, and I've bashed mine many times over the years (once setting off the fall detection and dialling 999) and I still can't see any discernible mark on it. I do have a screen protector and bumper case for my phone - but the watch has done me well so far.... (touch wood!) They aren't ludicrously expensive on amazon - so you could give one a try and see how it looks/works....

Both were very easy, neither was faffy.
Oh actually I fitted one to a Venu 2 as well. Also not faffy
Thanks for your post. I think the best call here is going to be 1) see if she wishes to keep/use it which she hopefully will (you mention fall detection - this was one of the reasons I bought it) and then 2) see how she feels about any kind of protector and/or case/bumper.
Case/bumpers can go on & come off. Although if they're anything like the first one I bought for my FR965 then they could potentially scratch the watch casing quite badly, which is why I got rid of it for a rubberised one.
And whether tempered or wet-application, as you say they're cheap enough so she can take a pick & go from there.0
