Northern Electric plc - interim share certificate 1991 Validity ?

Just Found a Northern Electric plc - interim share certificate from 1991 that belonged to my Mother who passed away in 2000 
Is there a simple online way of finding out if these are still valid ?

Presumably it relates to the ordinary shares and not the preference shares? For the ordinary shares it's very easy, Northern Electric was bought for cash in 1996 so this certificate is worthless.

Your mother will have received a cheque for them in 1996. It's just that the certificate wasn't thrown away.

And as an interim certificate it would have ceased to be of value when (/if) the next installment was paid and a fresh certificate issued.
