  • BTW to return to the original question and for the benefit of future researchers,  there are various "Mac in the Cloud" type services that seem pretty affordable.

    You can run windows virtually in a Mac which would allow you to run any of your must have windows specific programs.

    Assuming the OP is buying a modern machine with an M series processor then they will be limited to running Windows ARM via VM. Direct X12 doesn't, OpenGL above 3.3 doesn't and certain IMEs don't work with Windows ARM. 

    If they are buying an older Intel machine (I wouldn't) then they can use VM or Bootcamp for Intel version of Windows.
