  • Hi Everyone

Sorry for being AWOL for so long. Work has been really busy and I started swimming in March. Most of my free time has been spent swimming or gardening!

My Christmas pot has been nicely adding to itself - I have a weekly standing order set up so that it continues to drip into the saving fund.

This week I bought a couple of bits of Christmas chocolate that I have stashed away

I haven't bought any presents yet, but I'm going to pop into the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer - it's the 2024 Christmas chatter thread! — MoneySavingExpert Forum to see if I can pick up any tips - they are much more oranised than I am when it comes to Christmas  :)

Let me know how you're getting on,

    Catch you soon x

  • I really failed on this one but I am determined that from 2025 I am going to keep up with this challenge to make my life so much easier at this time of year.

    Debt Free - 4th June 2025
  • Hi All

My pot is up to £346  I haven't dipped into it at all this year, so feeling pleased about that!

Has anyone started their Christmas shopping yet? I've made a start on a few foodie bits, but no gifts at the moment.

We have at least one extra for dinner this year - anyone have any gluten free tips for Christmas dinner?

I hope to be a bit more active on the run up to Christmas.

Also, I was wondering - is this still a valid challenge? Do people still want this one? It's been awfully quiet this year.

    Catch you all soon.

  • Thanks Dolly  :)

I've made a start!  :D  I had a discount code for some men's smellies, so I've bought a set for my DH and DS.

Have also bought a few foodie items, including some gluten free bits.

I'm feeling positive and a little more prepared than I usually am at this time of year.  :)

£353 in my pot - I haven't taken the money out for the smellies yet though.

  • I set myself a little challenge of getting Christmas in order by 1st December, as my DH struggles with this time of year I wanted to get a head as worrying about him gets me down.

Food - I now need to get meat and veg - I am planning on getting the meat this week and I will freeze it, veg I will get in a couple of weeks.

Presents - I need to get something for my mum and DiL - I want to get this sorted out this week too.

I'm feeling quite chuffed with myself for being so organised, I've even done the majority of my wrapping!

So my pot is empty now, I have moved the last of my funds into my current account ready for the last few bits.

I will set up next year's challenge.

    Catch you all soon :)

I started really strong this year, but also dropped off mid-year as I focused on trying to clear a £3,500 debt.  I'm happy to report that I'm on course to clear this debt by 31st December, so that's a real present to myself! :)

I'm all in to do better in this challenge for 2025!
