Cycling insurance. Worthwhile?

Assuming your policy documents are roughly the same as the ones I found on the Post Office's website, the section you want is on pages 33-34.1404 said:My home insurance makes no other mentions of bikes other than to say that I have said I don't have one. I don't know where it would make mention of any "personal liability" cover which would protect me from scratching someone's car or running over someone's dog. I can't see anything there which indicates that. I have Post Office Silver cover.

You are covered for "any amount that you or your family are legally obliged to pay following an accident that results in someone being ill, injured, or results in someone’s death" and also "any amounts that you or your family are legally obliged to pay if an accident causes damage to someone else’s property".
The only relevant exception is "for injuries that happen as a result of playing any sport or using a bicycle outside the boundary of your home unless there’s no other insurance you can claim on".
So you are covered by your home insurance for damage or injuries you cause while cycling, unless you have a more specialist policy, in which case you would claim on that instead.2 -

Thank you for that. Yes, I do have that exact document on my Post Office insurance. (I was reading the summary policy before, not this booklet).
Well, it seems I am covered then whilst cycling which is great news! I am not covered against theft, but my excess is more than the bike is worth anyway.
Thanks very much for that, Aretnap!2 -

So if you injure someone whilst your cycling around your sitting room your covered regardless.
