    This is one of the things that got me thinking about what people were really paying over the year, rather than the headline low prices that seem to dominate many threads about variable price tariffs.  I know that for the roughly two year period when I tracked Agile pricing against our actual usage, Agile would have cost about 20% more.  At that time the forum I was active on was dominated by Agile users singing the praises of the cheap, or even negative, pricing slots, but it was fairly clear that the advantage of these was wiped out by the higher peak pricing  periods (at least for my pattern of usage, which is heavily optimised to use overnight energy).  I believe that I was making a reasonably fair comparison as almost all of our usage is overnight,which at the time tended to coincide with many of the Agile very low price events.

    Another point. If you have increased your usage on negative pricing days you should also say so. 
    I'm not running the sums until the year ends, to get a true reflection if a calendar year, but for Tracker electricity I think it went ever so slightly over the price cap and thus attracted a minor EPG discount once in January - i.e. for one day - or possibly twice.  Certainly not enough to skew the results. 
    [Whereas last December it sat above the price cap for a substantial part of that month, so we did benefit from much of the discount and thus results using the actual price paid in that month would be skewed.]

    As for load shifting to take advantage of the tariffs, that's sort of the whole point.  The average prices/kWh will likely reflect the various degrees to which people can be flexible with their usage.  Although I agree some indication with people's results will be helpful for context.  Tracker is less affected, the main things to shift into cheaper days are things like washing/tumble drying, dishwasher, maybe batch cooking.  For Agile, in-day shifting is a lot more important.

    Agile is aimed at EV and Battery users not E7 storage users. For storage heaters only its probably Tracker vs E7.

    EV, Battery, Solar and storage heaters, plus total usage are very important factors to include in the thread if you post your average price.
  • I'm guessing not many of you have solar, because I've just looked at our figures and based on electricity consumed v amount paid to Octopus, we've paid an average of 3p/kwH

    Perhaps it might be useful to also include annual grid electricity consumption, as clearly those that aren't reliant on electricity for things like heating, hot water, EV charging etc are perhaps more likely to be able to restrict their usage to periods when prices are very low.  I shift almost all our usage to the E7 off-peak period, but couldn't do the same with any of the more complex tariffs, as most of our heavy loads are switched by the fifth wire.
    We have 6.25kW of solar, 21.55kWh of battery storage, electric heating, hot water and everything else in the house, plus an EV.  Our annual grid consumption this year is on target to be about 4,100 kWh, which is pretty typical.

    In our case, despite being 100% reliant on electricity for everything(no gas, oil or solid fuels) we don't really need much grid electricity in summer.  This is our grid consumption for each month so far this year (the peak usage is hard to see - we've only used 10kWh at the day rate so far this year):

    Our usage during the summer months tends to be driven largely by our fairly fixed (and higher than for many) 24/7 power consumption.  The combination of our well pump, sewage treatment plant air blower, UV water disinfection system and the fans in the house ventilation system, means that our background load never really gets below 200W.
  • So we have averaged so far 18.57p kWh.

    To give this some context for the first 4 months of the year which equates to well over 3000kwh of our usage we were still on a fix at 29.24p kWh then we switched to Octopus and tracker and that bought with us 4 referrals, some goodwill gestures and a grand total of £10 spent up and including 7th November.or 0.005p kWh for that period.

    No solar, no batteries, no EV and a 8.5 year old heat pump.

    Including standing charge, I've paid £316 for 1394kWh over the last 12 months. That's 22.7p/kWh.
    Excluding standing charge, I've paid £159. That's 11.4p/kWh.
    My electricity has been on Octopus Go for the whole period. Until the end of September I was paying 40p/kWh peak, 7.5p/kWh off-peak; since then, it's been 31p/9p.
    I've got <3kWp solar and a ~6kWh battery. I've load-shifted 90% of my electricity import to the off-peak period.
