High winds have been gusting off the sea all night, battering the house and disturbing my sleep. The amber weather warning came to nothing yesterday though I suspect it'll hit today.
I'm off for a coffee.

Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, very windy overnight here too with added rain thrown in although it's a lot calmer at the moment - hope it stays that way.
Good to hear from you Mehefin.
I've been up since silly o'clock so have done some baking, a fruit loaf and some vegan shortbread (just tested it and I'm not a fan!). Once I've been shopping I'll make some lemon curd - something else I'm not keen on but others are and it makes a nice little gift.
Hope Steve is on the mend snoozer and you manage to have some rest.
How are the radiators taff?
More shopping to do this morning, will get it done now then I only have to get the fresh food. We've a pot luck lunch at work on Wednesday, thought I would make a spanakopita as it can be eaten hot or cold but I need to source the filo pastry first, it's being quite elusive.
Hope everyone has a peaceful Sunday, take care. XX10 -
Hi everyone,
Nice to see you Mehefin.
Yesterday turned into a bit of a nightmare, Steve finally got a bed at 2am this morning, so he had been sitting in a chair, with pneumonia, for 32 hours. I spent the afternoon with him, badgering the staff as much as I could, then in the evening Laura and Chris went up to try to put some pressure on, Laura left at midnight to get back for Esther and Chris stayed until he actually got the bed. At one stage they brought a new patient in and the Dr said, he needs a bed, I don't like his breathing at which Laura exploded because Steve's breathing had been deteriorating, he was certainly sicker at the end of the experience than when he went in. I just hope he's managing some decent sleep now. I didn't get a lot last night.
Esben and I are downstairs and everyone else is asleep, we have been making honeycomb decorations to hang but his ideas and mine on how to hang then do not coincide, guess who's winning the battle, it certainly isn't me.
I'll go back to the hospital for the start of visiting hours at 11am, we've got pork for dinner but I might have to delegate that to Brian.
Have a good day.11 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS for starting us off. And happy new road to you too! Are you off up to Oban to try it out!
I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself this morning. The sore throat and cough which had disappeared overnight yesterday is now back with me. I woke up with a sore throat and coughing at silly o'clock and I'm still at it. Grr I hope it's moved on by Christmas. I have some Covid tests in case I suspect that's what it is.
I think today may be a Sunday Sloth day, under the heated throw, watching some rubbish on tv. I had planned on a mince pie making morning but now feel I cba. Perhaps tomorrow!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and poorly loved ones. SNOOZER I hope Steve now has a bed and is on the mend. Take care all, be safe xx
Editing as I have cross posted with SNOOZER. I hope now he has a bed it will lead to an improvement. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Morning everyone high winds all night and still going strong but at least it’s dry at the moment. Snoozer that’s shocking I hope now he’s got a bed there’s an improvement. I was at my granddaughters gymnastics show last night it was good and they all enjoyed it she did two shows yesterday and she has two to do today it means I missed strictly so I will be watching that today I need to get some sort of draft excluder the garage door is rattling like mad it’s noisy chicken dinner later but that’s about it new fish tank is all set up we decided to get a new one as that was ancient and everything was broken on it jaws looks happy this morning now he’s settled in to his new surroundings but then again what does a happy fish look like . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that want them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing9

。❅*⋆⍋*∞*。*∞*⍋⋆*❅。
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the tree tops glisten
And children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow, oh, the snow
。❅*⋆⍋*∞*。*∞*⍋⋆*❅。Morning! The two downstairs radiators are not playing ball, but the three upstairs are like ovens they're so hot. He's coming back this morning to look at them again. Hopefully this time I won't have to clear up after a flood and spray of black water because it took me a while to clean all my implements yesterday. I booked a tip run for this morning too, just ot get rid of some bits and pieces hanging around, including the bench that OHs friend sat on and broke. To be fair, it probably wwasn't his fault, it was a bit rickety...Dinner is kind of a shepherds pie made with sugo because I had to use it in something...And I keep going to look at my newly sorted shelves in the lean to, it does cheer me up, which I admit, is weird I know.snoozer, how awful for you all. I hope you find him improved when you go back. SOmetimes it's the squeaky wheel that works tough. camelot, well done on the baking! I'm not a fan of vegan baked goods either, I don't know how they manage to all taste like moth dust. mehefin, nice to briefly see youGers, hope the coffee is working it's magic. And didn't they do well with the road! Lot s of people making things happen n your neck of the woods! Izzy, I expect you'd talk about your families or something like that, that's if you did go...And I wouldn't worry about them, people on fb tend only to show you the good stuff, never the completely boring stuff we all do or say or enjoy [like me, with my shelves
] Take care all, enjoy the day..

Morning all,I hope Steve is getting the treatment and sleep he needs now Snoozer.TA sorry your cold has reactivated. I've had mine for 2 weeks now & still woke coughing last night. I wanted to take some C Cards to family and our friends but am reluctant now in case I can still pass something on. I'll be watching DGD play football later though, should be ok outside.Gers so glad you have your emergency road now.Izzy you might find you enjoy meeting up with your old school friends. I did the other week, admittedly it wasnt 50 years, a group of us have seen each other over the last 15 years - perhaps a couple of times a year until the pandemic, after 1 organised the 1st meet in our 50th birthday year. It was a bit strange initially the 1st time but we soon broke the ice. We tend to meet for lunch at our retail park, not in the evening though.Chicken crown for tea, and a sticky toffee pud for the men.Taff sorry you've had a flood- I know what that's likeTake care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all
Dry here for now and a bit of sun due later, OH has gone to the boot sale and dd still in bed as are the pups, so a nice quiet start for me.
We got the tree up yesterday and I decorated it, it does look lovely all I have on it are red and white mushrooms and some feathered birds it looks very natural which is what I like, I also got the dresser done which is all glass baubles and lots of unusual things I have collected over the years, including a load of those tiny light up houses, a couple of silver bells I bought in a flea market in Venice a tiny child’s tricycle and two Amish decorations I got while in the USA, it’s quite a mixture but somehow it works I am very pleased with it, OH went to put the outside lights up and they disintegrated in his hands, I have ordered another lot to arrive today so they can go up later.
Gers no digits were lost in the tree surgery but I managed to slam my finger tip in a window and my nail (which I had done the day before 🙄) has just about come off 🤢 it’s split half way across and down the nail, it bled so much and was so painful I have wrapped it up to protect it but I have a feeling I will lose the nail 😩
Dinner today will be a bit of brisket with roasties and my favourite Yorkshire puddings, this afternoon I must wrap the final presents and deliver the cards to the neighbours, I still have my in-laws to buy for but that’s just a quick trip to M&S which I will do Wednesday, I’m going food shopping with mum Thursday and then it should all be done !I was thinking about Nels yesterday she loved this time of year and would have been knee deep in Christmas films with Baileys and cheese by now ❤️ I do miss her xx
Chrisca Happy belated big birthday did you say 70 ? And you are still working ? Or have I got that wrong ? Anyway Happy Birthday xx
Have good days all and take care xx9 -
Morning all; bit of blue sky out there at the moment.
Slept in a bit; this sleeping on my own in the spare bedroom means I've been reading in bed until late. Have taken DH's tea and toast upstairs. No point in him testing again until Tuesday and then we'll see where we are.
In the meantime I'm doing everything else. Must run the hoover round today and remember to put the bins out tonight. Yesterday I wrapped all the stocking presents for the grandchildren but their bigger gifts are in the wardrobe in our bedroom so will have to wait until later. They aren't major gifts anyway, as they get so much from various people, so I tend to get a token gift then send money for their savings account.
Had a 90 minute video call with the Aussie relatives yesterday. They wore their Christmas party hats and had put up a happy birthday banner for me. @Chrisca50 I reckon I'm a week younger than you!
Today I have a bit more ironing to do but I might go out for a walk, as I seem to be sitting around more than usual.
Happy Sunday everyone.11 -
Well, I closed my eyes for five minutes and woke up at 9.30, that was a surprise.@Snoozer - that's shocking but all too usual unfortunately. Now that Steve has a bed he can at least sleep properly, it's a great healer.@Mehefin - lovely to hear from you.@TA - oh no! Heat, fluids, rest and cheesy films for you today. Hope you're soon feeling better. I'm not going to Oban today, probably tomorrow.@Camelot - what a powerhouse you've been this morning. Everyone will appreciate your efforts.@Izzy - I spent ages trying to work out what a noisy chicken dinner was. 😀 Enjoy Strictly.
@Taff - good luck with the radiators, and thanks for the song. The severe weather warning correctly forecasted the awful rain here. It's battering everything. The sky is completely thick grey, I can't see anything across the sea, it's like living in Brigadoon. I'll be joking TA under my electric throw.8
