For tracing a lost handset - set up the find my phone/find device feature.

I'm sure there must be a thread or two somewhere with advice on what to do with a new Android phone regarding anti-virus and stuff like settings for tracing a lost handset. Could someone direct me to one please?

    Anti virus - don't bother
    Lost handset - I use https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager but it's giving 404 at the moment .... 🤷‍♂️

I've been using my old phone for online banking but now need to use the Santander app, for which the old operating system is not modern enough. Are you suggesting it's safe to use a banking app with no external virus protection on Android?

I've manage to edit out the quoted poster's name, who was @J_B

I think the banking apps are streetwise enough to look after themselves.

They check your phone out each time before they let you log on and if they find anything they don't like such as you have rooted your phone or the OS is not secure they will refuse to activate.

Perfectly safe. That's one of the reasons the app won't work on your old phone, the OS is not supported. On a newer phone with security updates an AV isn't necessary.
