Hi Gers,
Safe journey home.
Yesterday was another eventful day! Poor Steve wasn't well at all and I was in a quandary about what to do, take him back to hospital or wait to see if the antibiotics made a difference. I rang a and e who said ring your GP, they said ring 111, which I didn't because having experienced it before they would just have said go to hospital, so we went. This time they did the blood test they said they would do the day before and then didn't. His infection markers were really high (even higher than the times he'd been in hospital with infections when he was on chemo) so they decided to admit him for IV drugs. I'm cross because this could have been avoided (and us another 4 hour wait in a and e). I know they are struggling for beds and that is probably why, in fact I left at 10. 30 last night and as of now (8.30 a.m.) he is still in a chair in a waiting room. The upside is that he is feeling the difference after just two rounds of the medication so hopefully he won't be in for more than a couple of days.
I had been shopping in the morning yesterday and bought our turkey and one for L and B to take to Glasgow. It is one of the slow cook breasts for M and S that we tried the other week. Because they're vac packed they are long dated so it will avoid any panic this week.
Today I'm determined to finish the cards I am so late with them.
Have a good day.12 -
Morning everyone
It's wild and windy here, someones gate has been banging all night and I woke a couple of times.
Snoozer - sorry to hear about Steve - I hope he gets a bed and feels better soon.
I've jobs to do this morning and little one will arrive at some point, she has an early swimming lesson. I have some more Christmas craft bits for her and bought some magic snow when I was in town, so they'll keep her busy.
Taff - it's fine, the house is social housing, belonging to a housing association - they're based 60 miles away at Newcastle and apparently it's just the way they do it, so no one has to come from the office. It sounded weird to me too at first. She's signed the tenancy agreement - online, again not with a real person.
I'd better get on, I've a big pan of bolognese sauce to make - some for tea and the rest to freeze ready for a lasagne when eldest DD is home.
Hope everyone has a good day x13 -
Morning all
Snoozer I hope Steve recovers quickly and is soon home xxx
Raining here that drizzly rain ! OH has gone to see if the boot sale is on which is probably is as they seem to go ahead in most weathers.
I got the tree yesterday they had very few left there was a choice of a few small potted ones of a very big one, so I went for the big one, OH will have to chop a bit off the bottom but it should go nicely in the corner of the lounge. So my job for today is to decorate the tree and the dresser, OH will put the outside lights up this afternoon.
The log man is coming at 11 so they will need bringing in and stacking in the shed. I have put a wash on this morning but that will have to go on the airer.
Dinner tonight will be pizza and salad, DD Is out for a work’s Christmas meal but it’s early evening so won’t be too late back.
Have good days all and take care xx

Good morning all. Dull but dry here.
@snoozer; I really feel for you and Steve. That is so bad and makes us seem like a third world country, whereas, in reality, we do a lot of cutting edge work in the NHS. I thought nursing was bad enough sometimes when I was working; would hate to be doing it now.
Anyway, life continues on two levels here. Quite literally, as DH is confined upstairs with Covid and I'm downstairs doing everything else! We have a family video call at 11am so had better make sure I'm ready for that. Afterwards I'll pop into town for a paper and some bits then maybe tackle wrapping some presents - but they are all upstairs..........
Have taken some salmon out of the freezer to cook plus we have lots of peppers, mushrooms etc so will roast those to go with it.
Off to make myself look decent now. Have a good day everyone.13 -
Morning all, it's another grey day here but at least it's not raining. I washed the bedding yesterday so it should be dry and I can put it away. I got my GP phone call and more tests are needed 😧
The messy elf has been in the freezers again so they will need sorting and an inventory done. I took out some steak last night so we'll have that for tea today with a jacket potato. I've also taken out some chicken thighs that need de-boning ready for lunch tomorrow leaving a bit more room in the freezers ready for some nice xmas bits.
I still have the wrapping to do and some neighbours cards to post, I can't get motivated this year.
Snoozer I really hope Steve gets better asap, it's such a worry for you.
WL sorry to read that your DH has covid, hope he gets better soon and you don't catch it !
Right I'd better sort myself out and make a start.
Take care all

Morning allHope your DH recovers well enough to be in his own bed soon @snoozer xI celebrated the big 7 0 last week and today we are having a suprise 40th birthday party for my DS. How time flies!Icing cupcakes after this for the party and cooking some sausage rolls. His partner has decided to get 80s theme food for the buffet so lots of cheese and pineapple on sticks, party rings etc etc. We'll be going to the hall later to decorate and put the buffet out so a long day/night as I'm usually in bed by 8!!!Have a good day everyone x12

Morning All
Happy Big Birthday Chrisca! Also happy 40th birthday to your DS, hope you enjoy your celebrations.
It was dry earlier but is drizzling now - we're in for some heavy rain apparently. I've changed the bed so all the bedding is on the pulley and airer. No heating needed apart from the fire today as it's quite mild.
I've been out for logs, last minute pressies and general rubbish from HB this morning. Put petrol in the car and got cash out for some gift envelopes - need a rest now!
The kitchen cupboards need sorting, one down already. There seems to be loads of alcohol lurking in one cupboard that never gets drunk - will encourage anyone visiting to either drink it or take it home I think as I could do with the space. Will put all the glasses through the DW for a freshen up along with serving dishes, what a lot of hassle for a few days!
Hope Steve is recovering and gets home soon snoozer.
Oh dear WL, hope you don't catch it and your OH is well soon.
How was the panto Gers?
Enjoy decorating the tree RR.
Back to the cleaning, hope you all have a good weekend. Take care. XX12 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. I hope you are having a safe journey home. I'm a latecomer as I decided to trip down into town for one or two bits I forgot to put on my order, plus my treat of some choccies to scoff through the Strictly final. A glass or two of Baileys might accompany them.
I seem to be in the minority here as we have sunshine and it felt quite pleasant outdoors for a change. Sadly brisk winds are forecast for later and to linger for a few days to come.
There seems to be a lot of birthdays about just now, either just gone or yet to come so I hope everybody has (or had) a good day!
Similarly lots of ailments about too amongst us. SNOOZER I hope STEVE soon responds to the IV meds and it won't be long until he is home. RUBY I thought you had given me your sore throat and cough last night but this morning it has disappeared as fast as it came. I got some cough med whilst I was out just in case! Get well soon poorlies and at least you are getting it out of the way before Christmas hopefully. NAN ouch more tests. I hope you soon get a diagnosis of what's troubling you. And you have reminded me that I need to give the freezers a good sort out as the messy elf has been at mine too. I have made an early NY resolution, yet again, to get my stocks in them down and keep them down!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care and be safe xx

O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
wie treu sind deine Blätter!
Du grünst nicht nur zur Sommerzeit,
Nein auch im Winter, wenn es schneit.
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
wie treu sind deine Blätter!
O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree
Thy leaves are so unchanging
O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree
Thy leaves are so unchanging
Not only green when summer's here
But also when it's cold and drear. 。❅*⋆⍋*∞*。*∞*⍋⋆*❅。Morning! Plumber is probably coming back tomorrow, the three upstairs radiators are working fine but the two downstairs ones don't seem to be heating up. The ones that are woeking seem to be hotter than they were before so I've got to switch it on and off throughout the day to check if they suddenly kick in. Other than that today is a clean up day after a flood in the kitchen and the water spraying everywhere from the boiler outlet...Lots of black water escaped..I'm not really bothered about that because it means I can possible do a reorganise. I finally did an inventory of my cupboards too [ I want to go Christmas food shopping but don't want to duplicate] which meant about six things had to go because they were severely out of date but they were just packet sauce things and a jelly I will never use. The foxes had the jelly....I'm hapoer about this because it means I can shop from the cupboards now instead of the sm. I just have to be more organised with food planning.Snoozer, good news he's responding to stronger medicine, you must be exhausted both of you. Fingers corssed for less time in hospital...Gers, safe drive back! Chris, Happy big seven oh! anny, snap, it must be inventory week!Fingers crossed for your tests too.. WL, fingers crossed you avoid covid! dp1, thank god! I was worried there for a second...Ruby, happy tree deocrating! Take care folks, have a good one if you can, if you can't Baileys is the answer

Still no bed but he's now managed to bag a recliner so he's a bit more comfortable. I can't really visit until he's on a ward.10
