Good energy problems
Hi, we have been contacted by Good Energy saying we must repay FIT payment back for last 3 years. £1300. We moved in to home Dec 2020 and solar panels were included in house sale. Previous owners had bought themselves out of their greendeal contract and owned them. We have provided proof of ownership to Good Energy again but they are still disputing our ownership but not prepared to tell us who they think does. They keep citing GDPR and we need to contact OFGEM. We have provided everything from our solicitors from the house sale, but GE are saying this is not proof, even though their own website states this a acceptable evidence.
We are now very dubious about this contact and worried it is a scam. Has anyone else had similar issues or can offer advice please?

The problem may be with you not having signed a FiT contract with Good Energy. My guess is that Good Energy are using this as the basis for their claim. You should have a FiT registration document in your name, with both yourselves and Good Energy as signatories. It seems likely that this contract may still be in the name of the previous owners. What should have happened is that as a part of the sale the previous owners should have formally assigned you as the new owners of the FiT contract, enabling you to complete a new registration agreement with your chosen FiT provider.Best course of action is probably to try and get the previous owners to help out, perhaps through their solicitor they used for the sale. That should get around the missing FiT registration agreement0
