help! - pushchair just gave up!

Merry Christmas!

In true moneysaving style I've been happily using a very secondhand Chicco pushchair (handed down from cousin, already secondhand then I think, when I had first baby, now using for baby #2) but now it's finally given up the ghost. With the sales just starting it's a great time to replace it, but I don't know what to look for. Unlike most posters, I don't need a lightweight, easily foldable buggy, but the opposite really. The old buggy was quite bulky & had a nice roomy, comfortable seat & a huge shopping basket - these are the features I want to keep. I use it for walking to the shops - it doesn't go in the car or on the bus so I don't tend to fold it away & have a buggy board for dd1 to ride on. So can anyone recommend a pushchair with plenty room for a toddler to sit in, big shopping basket, sturdy enough for a buggy board & preferably cheap??

  • how old is baby number 2? do you need a new one or might a second hand one do? you could always ask on freecycle. i buy my buggies from ebay (old ones, on their last legs lol!) but it's best to see the same model in a shop first.

i love mamas and papas prams because my boy is very tall and not many buggies allow enough height on the backrest for a daytime nap. the freestyler was fantastic, it's very sturdy and comfortable.

  • Hi

I would whole heartedly recommend a bertinni buggy, old fashioned size but very good quality. They have 4 steerable wheels and suspension, large seat for toddlers and would take a buggy board. What's more, they are very reasonable secondhand as their size does make them less popular.

I had one for my baby and I loved it, adjustable handle height too and huge shopping tray.

    Good luck

Baby #2 is a tall 20 months, so I need something sturdy to do him for the next couple of years. Secondhand is fine - had been looking on ebay, but without any idea what to look for was getting frustrated by the plethora of strollers, which is the opposite of what we need. The Bertini & Mammas & Papas look great & will look out for them in the shops too. Thank you! :T
