British Gas Homecare -overcharging and not changing address
My in-laws have just moved, i called British Gas on their behalf to change the address with the supply. I did not realise that they had Homecare cover. The Homecare cover has not had the address changed and I have just discovered they are paying £73 per month for full cover, whereas on the website the price is £28!!
two questions for you all.....
Has anyone had any luck in reclaiming over charged premiums on the Homecare policies?
Should I have expected them to automatically changed the address on the Homecare or is that asking too much?
thanks

They're not overcharging if your in-laws signed a contract for £73. Rip-off, yes, but other than trying to guilt them into making a goodwill payment, I can't see them giving you back premiums. Have you/they raised a complaint?
They really should have changed the address, but i can't say I'm surprised that they haven't, without prompting.1 -
Is the £28 a month a new customer rate? If so, it would be worth the parent-in-law currently under contract to end the contract at the next renewal and the other parent-in-law to start a new contract. Particularly as there is a change of address.
Homecare is run as a separate entity to the gas/ electric supplier, so I'm not surprised that they didn't update the address at the same time.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards.
