Dr Mike Mosley has a 'Just One Thing' Podcast available on BBC Sounds. It's generally one of my favourites (And I also listen to it to help drift off to sleep sometimes!)
He has done a 'Sleep Special' this week, and it's a 1/2 hour programme as opposed to his normal 15 minutes
It's available here https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001trnj
Or you can search on BBC Sounds
It has a sleep specialist Dr talking to him and is really very interesting. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.4 -

Recently we have had a lot of stress (husband unemployed for three months, COPD diagnosis, cancer scare) and we have tried:
New hypoallergenic pillows
Switched to decaffeinated tea and coffee
A handful of pistachios 90 mins before bed (natural source of melatonin)
Removing as many electronic devices as poss from bedroom
Blackout blinds
Himalayan salt lamp
Air purifier

I've not been getting good sleep for a while.
I tried Kalms but not really successful.
I have most of my mobile notifications on silent and I can't remember the last timer anyone rang, tested or whatsapped me at night.
The phone is left just outside the bedroom door.
I recently bought a sleep mask from TKMaxx.
I've used one of these on long haul flights and they do cut the light out.
I've been sleeping better since I started using it although it did take a bit of getting used to with the elastic around my head.
This one:
Contoured & Satin Sleep Masks | SMUG. (sleepsmug.com)
Contoured 3D blackout sleep mask.
Paid £3.99, RRP £15.00.0 -
Another recommendation for the BBC Sounds App here. After a spell of terrible sleep recently, I found that listening to Richard E Grant reading Wombles stories was the most effective! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/m001tqf71

The 4am wake every day can be tough. There can be medical reasons so always worth getting checked out. Otherwise like others say BBC sounds + low profile earbuds. I'd recommend the Curious Cases of Rutherford and Fry. Otherwise if you really can't get back off try the Shipping Forecast0
