Large fx transfers

Hi there

I need to transfer a large amount of fx to the UK. Does anyone have any advice on the best way to do this or how to get a better rate?

I have checked wise, currencies direct, Moneycorp and Torfx and there is not much difference.

Thanks
James

I reckon you won't get much better rates. Did you use one of the currency transfer comparison sites?

There might be a few extra pounds you can make via a cashback site, though cashback is never guaranteed. For example https://www.topcashback.co.uk/currencyfair/

For a substantial sum it used to be worth contacting the FX department of the receiving bank to try negotiating a preferential rate, it may still be so. There's probably a fixed fee but that's less relevant than the exchange rate for a large transfer. Direct bank to bank is more secure than using a transfer service, some of which can experience failure such as Xendpay currently. Wise is pretty solid. Have documentary source of funds ready in any case.
