Responding to a divorce petition (pre 2022)

Options
Hi,

I was advised that rather than contest the divorce petition, I could accept it but comment on the allegations made. I advised my solicitor of my comments regarding the allegations but have no idea if they were ever submitted. When I challenged my solicitor for a copy of my response, they said there is nothing to show, the response was uploaded to the courts web portal.

Have I miss understood something?

Many thanks
J

What are you trying to achieve, are you trying to stop your partner divorcing you?
  • Hi no,

The divorce has been finalised, I just wanted a copy of my response for my own records.
    TIA

You should be able to ask the solicitor for a copy of all paperwork relating to the divorce, or separately you can request that from the court, although I think the court charges a fee, which the solicitor might also do. Do you still have access to the court portal?
  • Thanks MMM,

I have never had access to the court portal?

Having actually obtained a copy of a divorce certificate, all it lists is the names of the parties and the date of the decree absolute. There is no reference to the "reason" for the petition.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
