apple watch black screen

Hi, we have a son who loves to fiddle with stuff! He's got an apple watch series 4 and it now has a black screen and a mans voice talking very slowly saying "enter passcode" or reading out the time.

We don't know if he has but it into a mode for visually impaired users or if it is partially broken.

We've read about series 6 having issues with black screen but this is definitely a 4 unfortunately.
