Interesting that SSE says no standing charge.

I've not seen that anywhere before as everyone talks like a standing charge is an absolute necessity - which I've never understood.  Yes we have to pay for infrastructure but we don't pay a SC at Tesco because they need to get their trucks to deliver to stores we just pay for what we actually buy.

Tesco don't send you food and drink down a pipe for instant delivery.

I suspect that the OP is in Northern Ireland.

You are getting an absolute bargain with either of those rates then compared to the standard tariff in the rest of the UK.

    Hello
Can someone help me to figure out what will be a better deal.
I'm w Click Energy 25.95 pence per KWh plus standing charge 9.40p.

I have an option to move to SSE Airtricity which is 27.20 pence per KWh and no standing charge.

Is there any saving if I'll move or not 🙈
You do have the benefit of having excess to the discounted gift cards with Click and won't have with SSE
The last time I checked the consumer council comparison site Power NI was the cheapest  and they also offer the gift card perk.
If you are a high user of electricity don't go for online billing as the discount is capped every quarter and as prices rise the benefit of the discount declines your are better of having a PAYG meter topping up £150 and receiving £4 free when required
    Power NI no standing charge

You are still paying for those trucks but it's just not itemised on the bill

I guess the big supermarkets could include a Standing Charge of £3 on each bill to cover operating costs while reducing prices by 5%. I wonder why they don't do that.

Presumably the supermarkets will do just that when there is permanent infrastructure to pipe groceries into your home on demand.

You liked my pipe idea then lol

I was wondering what diameter we should make it and are we going boxless with a dry ingredients pipe and a wet pipe?

The wet pipe will be a much smaller diameter so may attract a lower standing charge.

Customers can they consider whether they have the dry ingredients pipe disconnected, pay no SC on the dry pipe and move to a wet diet only?
