My miss understanding on "Offer" or the business didn't want to honour the "Offer"?

but you didn't spend £60 you spent £52.80

you can confirm this by looking at your bank statement or credit card statement or however you paid
But if you base it on what you paid (£52.80) then there shouldn't a 20% discount as that's below £60
ah but you did spend £52.80 but what you got for that was £60 worth of goods

for example - say you went to Sainsbury's and chose £60 pounds worth of wine and it was a 25% off weekend and you went to the till and you paid £45

you then went home and someone said how much did you spend at sainsburys you would reply £45
I think you missed the point, if you look at it that way and you have spent £52.80 then there shouldn't be a 20% offer as you need to spend £60 which you haven't.

So you should either get both offers or neither.

    I agree.
"spend £60 and save 20% plus receive a complimentary ManKind Clear Travel Bag with code SPEND20."

It is either you accept or not accept "SPEND20" code. Having accept the discount code, but giving only part of the offer indicated didn't sound correct to me.
  • The wording is ambiguous. Generally speaking the safe bet is for the retailer to apply freebies to the checkout before discounts are applied (and before handling/shipping fees are applied).

But I guess it does depend on your reading of it, and freebies generally are a grey area in terms of rights and stuff. They normally have a line about ‘whilst stock lasts’ and they could argue that the bag is now out of stock.

Personally I would say how much do you care and how much time and effort are you willing to put into it. You can out of principle reject the whole order for breach, and threaten to ‘never use them again etc’ snd see if they send out the bag. Or you can begrudgingly just accept it.

Freebie stuff is never great quality, and generally ends up in the landfill very soon after being given away.
  • I think the other replies are missing something, the offer says:

Spend £60 and save 20% + free gift* with code: SPEND20
*Receive a complimentary ManKind Clear Travel Bag when you spend £60 with code SPEND20.
So either you add £60 min to basket and get 20% off and a free gift or you add £72 min to basket and get 20% and a free gift.
Adding £60 but less than £72 to basket, getting 20% and not getting a free gift doesn't meet the terms which ever way you look at it.

I also disagree with the reading of the wording, based on any other offer I've ever used, I would expect to add £60 min to my basket and get 20% and the free gift.

    It's £75, £72 with 20% discount = £57.60.
But we agree with everything else :)
I agree. To avoid confusion, they should say "spend £75" instead of "spend £60", then there would have no confusion at all

I would agree the wording is ambiguous, though I would also have initially suspected it was ambiguous and checked what they meant (if I cared about the free bag...)

My bold ... to me that says you need to have spent £60+ after applying the 20% discount. But I agree that the preceding line confuses matters as it is worded ambiguously.
