fiesta ecoboost 2016 vs dependable old corsa 1.2!
I've bought the fiesta off a friend who wanted a quick sale, so let it go for trade in price. I believe its worth at least 800-1300 more going by autotrader and other listings.
I am reluctant to sell my 2008 corsa 1.2 16v which has been reliable and consistently achieves 45-50 mpg.
I am also unsure about the ecoboost engine and gearing. It goes like a rocket, but also labours easily if you are in too high a gear. Even in the corsa you can lug it around in a higher gear without it struggling too much.
I have also heard these engines can go boom if not looked after well.
So any thoughts whether to run my corsa into the ground or upgrade to the fiesta?

Keep the Corsa. They don't call them ecobooms for nothing!Plenty of people will buy the fiesta despite the publicity about the wet belt problems. You really don't want to be changing the wet belt, or worse, paying a garage to change it.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

It will soon need a cambelt change, which is a big job on those engines
There are now garages that specialise, do it in one day, and have a fixed fee.

Thanks so its going to cost a grand in a few years for the belt. Its in really nice condition, its just not a priority for me to want a newer/better car.0

Sounds like you're going to sell it on then. I don't blame you.1

From what I have read, (and seen on youtube), I would be dumping any "ecoboost" Ford well before the 80k / 10 year mark!!

I like the Fiesta but, in this case, it seems to make sense for the OP to keep the Corsa and sell the Fiesta on. The Fiesta, it seems, was not the OP's choice of car but a convenience purchase so why keep it?
The counter to that would be of the friend sold the car to the OP at trade price thinking they were doing the OP a good turn and expecting the OP to be grateful. If it will sour a friendship to sell the Fiesta, keep it and move the Corsa on.1 -

yes plan to get a new mot, advertise high, if it sells cover my costs and then split any profits. hes the type of person who buys a new iphone every year and sells the old one for 1/3 of what it cost.0

thanks for the tips, i do prefer simple things. dont think you can beat a small 4 cylinder engine, no turbo. not concerned about speed. actually like how diesels drive as the torque is often lower down, but diesels usually have turbo and egr etc which go wrong plus its dirtier. have to say the corsa 1.2 16v engine has grown on me, you can drive it sensible but occasionaly let it rev high and it takes off pretty well.0
