PIP telephone assessment.

I had my PIP review today. The gentleman who called me didn’t have brilliant English, I struggled to understand some of what he was saying, he seemed to rush through quite quickly, it lasted around 15 minutes. He didn’t go into details much, at the end I had to tell him about my use of a commode and other things. It’s left me feeling really nervous, if I lose my PIP it will have severe consequences, loss of my car and independence. I wonder others have experienced similar?

    Fortunately I have not.

But don't forget that if they say you no longer should have PIP or have it at a reduced rate you can appeal the decision.  Citizen's Advice are great for helping with these sort of things.  Hopefully it won't be necessary.

One thing to do is request the assessment report, either in a week or when DWP text you to say that have it (whichever is sooner).  That way you'll see what the likely decision will be and you can start preparing an MR request to challenge it if need be.

It is also based on what you write on the review form so if you covered aids/ adaptations etc on there hopefully it will be ok.

Had a pleasant experience with my PIP review done by phone. Luckily, the HCP was a cardiac nurse and know all about my main health conditions.

Daily living component stayed at lower rate. However, Mobility increased to higher rate. Awarded for 10 years.

Take it this wasn't a full assessment but a review case? If so that 15 minutes is a good call length and it is basic. If a full assessment then this is shocking.

How long the assessment takes will depend what information they need. I've had a PIP assessment for myself that was 10 monutes. It was a complete waste of time attending the appointment because they could have done a paper based assessment or even rang me to ask me that one single question.

Reading before 2024 review, it's been a while, not sure which format to expect.
Video could be nice as wfh and used to those Apps.

Most assessments are by telephone, some are face to face or video.
