Price of boiler spare part
goodValue
I was told I needed a new pump for a boiler that had stopped working.
It's a Vaillant ecoTEC pro 28.
It was either pay for the pump or have no heating.
The pump cost £350.
I thought that a new boiler cost was about £2000 - £3000, and so £350 is a good proportion of this.
Was that a reasonable price?

£255 (inc VAT) from KeeptheHeatOn. Delivery cost would have been between £7 and £18 depending on how quickly you wanted it delivering.

If the total bill for replacement was £350 (so no additional labour on top), then you have have paid a reasonable price. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.1 -
My apologies, I gave the wrong price.
The pump was £315, and the labour £150.
Both of these did not include VAT.
I searched and found this link:

There was a few different ecoTEC boilers to choose from, but I didn't know the full number of the one I have.
So I looked at the prices for a couple of them.
They were all about £105 w/o VAT.
Can there be a large difference in the price of a brand new spare, depending on the supplier?0 -
That’s how much some pumps are these days. The ERP ones. Those ones for £105 are probably older 15/60 grundfos pumps.goodValue said:I was told I needed a new pump for a boiler that had stopped working.

Was that a reasonable price?I changed one yesterday and the whole assembly was £150 inclusive of VAT.So yes, it is reasonable. Although I’ll try to direct customers to a fixed price repair depending on the cost.1 -
A total cost of about £380 looks a lot compared with £255 and £150.
Is there any reason it should have been so much more expensive?

It will be an ERP pump.
I don't know what that is. Does it make it much more expensive?
Where could I look up the price of the pump for my boiler?

ERP is energy related product. But to answer, yes. A lot more expensive.goodValue said:It will be an ERP pump.
