Yep. Spoke to the insurance company, decided not to claim as it was less than the excess.
Well that may give her some credibility which may help in her case.  Time though to get a dash cam.
    Indeed!,.

Sorry guys but I'd got completely the wrong end of the stick!
It's not the other driver coming back for a belated pop at her. It's her discovery that her telecon to them at the time informing them of a 'hit and run' has gone on file as a claim.

A claim or an accident? You have to declare accidents / incidents, even if you do not make a claim.

Is this a case of the insurer raising this as part of the pricing of a renewal?

Well it certainly wasn't a claim! It was a hit and run which did insufficient damage to merit a claim.
If it was an attempt to raise the premium it hasn't worked as she's simply taken her business elsewhere!

I hope she has declared it as an accident to whoever she has moved her insurance to as it will be on the central database and they could cancel her policy for non disclosure which will cost her a lot more.

The insurers ask have you had any claims or accidents in the last x years. She has to answer yes to this and put the details in of the accident.
