Vising a European city on Easter Sunday

Options
Asking on behalf of my daughter. She will be 21 next year and wishes to be away on her actual birthday but that falls on Easter Sunday. She is trying to find out if attractions, shops etc are likely to be closed this day? She'd be going with a friend and places she's mentioned being interested in are Amsterdam, Paris and Vienna. She only has the BH w/end in which to travel so from Fru 29th returning April 1st.

Any help appreciated.

Doubt it, I was in Majorca on Good Friday and everything was open, major capital cities wont be shutting down for it.

I think it's one of those 'it depends' questions. You certainly might find a lot of small places in heavily catholic countries take the day off, but i imagine Aldi and McDonalds would be open as usual.

I'd be surprised if any of three cities mentioned were badly affected by it but you may find some places closed - e.g. public museums might shut if it's a national holiday.

The places you mention are less likely to have much closed if at all on the tourist trail.
Italy & Spain are more likely to be affected but even Christmas day in the tourist spots they were open, but later.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
