Universal credit query

Hi me and the missus received the letter to migrate from tax credits to UC. We did the application online and it seems from my side everything went through smoothly as it is showing the first UC payment as being on Jan 11th 2024, but my missus has been asked to go to jobcentre for a “standard identity” appointment and bring in documentation like passport, national insurance no. Etc. Is this standard procedure?
Also I work part time but my missus does not. She looks after the kids and is also a carer for my mother.
Many thanks in advance

Standard procedure,
I don't know about Tax Credits migration... but if it is a now a normal UC claim, you must both agree to your commitments in your respective log in accounts.
And if your mother gets PIP or AA then have you declared your wife as a carer with UC and said 35 + hours a week caring and declared the name and address of who she is caring for?
If so, your wife should get the carer element from the start of the UC claim and she does not have to look for work.
If you have not done this then your wife needs to log in - report a change - change to carer, and report who she cares for.0 -
Presumably you did the online identity process but you partner couldn't use that for some reason? In that case then it's standard to go to the Jobcentre to do the ID check, I did that because I couldn't verify online either.
It took me about 10 minutes for the interview itself, and that's without me having a passport or DL.She should just take what she can from the listMy NI no. was on my Council Tax bill, and that and a bank statement (I printed off a PDF) confirmed my address.
(I also used my disability bus pass as photo ID, it's the only 'ID' thing that has my photo on it, that isn't on the list and she said that she couldn't accept it as proof of ID - but then took the details and scanned it in anyway). It can seem a bit odd that partners, who have linked claims, have to ID seperately, but it's just another anti-fraud measure.2 -
@xxxxxxxx - Thanks for the reply. My mother does get PIP but I haven’t declared my wife as a carer on UC but I have declared on my tax credit arrangement, I’m new to all this UC stuff so I thought they would do this at the jobcentre, if that’s not the case should I do it online?@Newcad - Thanks for the reply. Yes I took photos of my documentation online but for some reason my wife wasn’t asked for hers online.0

The claim for UC needs to be fully done by you (both), the managed migration bit is for transitional protection only. TC don't talk to UC about the details of your claim, they only use information for calculating a notional award.0 -
@Spoonie_Turtle - Phew, just checked, we did declare that she is a carer on carers allowance. So I’m guessing this interview is just so they can I.D her properly to make sure the claim is not fraudulent?0
